Stevie,,,,, Did Greg Page ever put together a great fight...... Even his bout with Gerrie Coetzee was not a very good performance. I'm going with Michal Dokes, who showed a little more talent.
Damn, thats a great matchup! While I think Dokes was more consistantly good, Something tells me Pages larger size would help him, but he'd have to be at his best, not lazy, and he might pull it off. Coetzia knocked Dokes out right, although it was a coked up Dokes I think, both guys would need to be 100%.
Dokes just, his speed. Very close. Both good boxers with good chins, would go route. A fight either could win - and lose.
Dokes was the more complete fighter back in the early 1980s, but Page could box and move well too. If Page can keep his long left flicking into Dokes' face from long range, the night could be long for Dokes. I don't see Dokes with his short but stocky arms doing well in ring center against a trained Page. If Dokes wants to win, Dokes needs to close the gap and work in and out on Page, as well as up and down to the head and body. Too close to call... But I like Dokes buddy..bbb MR.BILL:rasta
If Page is in the 218-223 pound range, and is motivated, he takes a UD.Dokes was the more dedicated fighter, but Page had the better talent.
I tend to go with your scenario,Titan. What a shame that neither man had the discipline and focus to match their talent.
