Bingo. I really can't overemphasize just how much fighters get exploited. Some of them take home something like only 20% of what they were guarenteed. It's shocking! Fighters are the most exploited sports people in the world, because anyone can join their corner no matter what their background and lack of integrity, they don't know their worth and many of them are very care-free with money because of lack of education etc. It's mindboggling to us how someone could blow or be ripped off of such a huge amount of money, but it happens far too often in boxing.
Funnily enough, there's an example of it tonight. King is taking 90% of Mayorga's purse due to their previous court case over Mayorga trying MMA :shock:

Yeah but he wouldn't have had those pay days with out Don King. Larry Holmes once said something like if he got paid 5 million and Don stole 3.9 million of it Larry would still me a million better off than he would with any other promoter.

Yep, it also comes as one big installment instead of a regular consistant wage. So they believe they can spend like there's no tommorow as they'll have another big pay day coming up. It's a shame because most fighters don't even know what's happening with their money. They let other people count and hold their money and are just very complacent. They're so ignorent about these things and so they don't even have enough people around them to protect them from the parasites that suck off them.
Sad thing is some of them try to be smart by buying into business or land but then use their best friends seconds cousins mate to do the deal, the think they're doing something to help the people but generally get ripped off, they get rent payments from a business maybe for 2-3 years, but they're pumping more in all the time but they think my monthly cut is going up it's my mates running it I can trust them then the business goes tits up and the fighter is left with the bill as he signed the contracts. My cousin is showing some talent as a young amateur and I've already told him manage you own money go to a qualified person don't trust your so called mate, go to at least 3 professionals and then make a decision, that's because he got conned out of his pocket money last week at least he gave the thief a bloody nose.
