It was competitive fight before that perfect punch landed. Maravilla surprised me with his jab quite unorthodox but very powerful and very precise. Dzin did some good work putting the pressure on Maravilla, avoiding and blocking powershots. Maravilla missed a lot expending lot of energy. Dzin really seemed to turn the tide in the 6-7th round. It looked that higher pace actually favored him. He got better of Maravilla in many exchanges. In 8th he got caught. This punch made the fight look so easy for Maravilla like he could end it every second.

Maravilla has flaws in his game but I'm wondering if there any fighters to exploit them.

As for Dzin. I hope he can still secure good fight at 154. Fight with Cotto is most unlikely. Williams, Cintron or Margarito would be great.

Ive only watched the second half of the fight an i get the impression that the fight would have been different if sergiy had power. Sergio was able to take so many chances against a fighter like that. Also i want to see more of sergiy, guy was hopelessly overmatched physically but displayed good technical skills. Ill have to watch the fight again i think. Great fight.

That boxing masterclass was a thing of beauty. Probably Sergio's most complete boxing performance of his career. If you don't understand that then you don't understand boxing. I never knew he was capable of such a tactically crisp performance. The man looked fanstastic in there.

If this wasn't a dominating performance then I don't really know what would qualify as being such.

Martinez absolutely dominated the fight. There was two close, competitive rounds where Dzin landed some jabs and some nice compact shots that made no impression at all...otherwise he was outboxed and then swiftly taken out.

I keep saying it but I really wished martinez was 10 years younger, I wonder how long he keeps this level up.

I agree. Now, am I suggesting that Dzin was in the process of coming back and earning a win on the scorecards? No. However, I thought he was on the verge of being able to perhaps split the final rounds and bring the fight to a competitive conclusion.

I agree. He made an excellent tactician look pedestrian for large stretches of the bout. Had the knockout not occurred, I suspect Dzin would have won a few more rounds and lost on the order of 8 rds to 4.

    Martinez looked awesome.

Martinez vs Bute? I'd love to see it.

I don't understand? The knockout was always going to occur. This was not a lucky punch. Martinez was always going to put Dzin's lights out. He had already knocked him down on two seperate occasions, and he was landing with regularity throughout the entire bout. If the knockout had no occured when it did, I suspect Dzin would have endured maybe a few more rounds of getting outboxed, maybe landing some nothing shots of his own, before being knocked out late on in the fight. The knockout was always going to happen. Martinez was landing whenever the hell he wanted to.
