For all those that doubt Lee's power and question his stamina, I present to you and man that had been through a war and in the last round of a very tough fight.

To think I predicted a Lee KO win in the NINTH round! How could I have gotten it so wrong?

Yes there were quite a few predictions for Lee by KO in 8 or 9, but no one actually said 10!

    Ha ha! Good man Ec!

The dust settles so here is my take. McEwan is known as a powder puff fighter. If he can trouble Lee like that then its a poor show.

Despite the strong finish the flaws fail to have been corrected and Lee is moulded.

    Macklin ko 6

Funny you should mention him, I was just thinking of Kelly the other day. He had eye problems and had to retire, as Leonard says.

im not so sure about macklin ko 6 slap, mac has his flaws aswell and tends 2 get very marked up around the face,i could see a stoppage from that end perhaps if these 2 meet.mac would rightly be favourite going in though.your spot on with the comments about andy failing 2 fix his flaws.at the end of round 5 i was thinking here we go again.no head movement, poor footwork and he was begining 2 have that rabbit in the headlights look about him. let me ask this question - how would a well trained and motivated john duddy have fared against the version of lee we seen in there last night??:think

while Im delighted with the win have to say I think any top 15 MW with reasonable power would have stopped Lee in about 5 or 6 last night. His chin is way up in the air and wide open, hes lunging in with single shots and just seems to have had no gameplan. I wonder if he was too pre occupied with trying to put on a fan friendly fight on his HBO debut instead of sticking to his boxing. Di Bellas not stupid, he will know Andy was poor last night and needs more work. Di Bella is involved with the monthly broadway boxing shows in NYC. They dont be on telly but I think Lee could do with a few match ups against tough, inside journeymen on these shows and it would help build a following in NYC.

The confidence gained will be worth a lot to Andy's progression. That's a big fight to win in that style, whatever the flaws.

Duddy could of beat Lee last night , i dont no why Lee wont throw the left more often , i was screaming at the telly for him to throw it and as soon as he did the fight swung in his favour , he will be a wasted talent unless he sorts out his flaws in the near future

It's a good win and all but lets not fool ourselves. Confidence gained isn't going to make him any technically better defensively and that's going to be the main source of his problems moving forward. He's mentally and physically strong. His problems are technical

I watched all of that De Bella card this morning with a large pot of coffee and it was a great card - I really enjoyed all of the fights. Setanta/Premier have again shown far better boxing than what we are currently seeing with Sky's offering. I enjoyed all of the under card fights and Martinez looked very classy again.

On to the Lee fight. I fancied McEwan to take this on points as I thought he would grind out the result and was good enough to capitalise on Lee's defensive flaws that have been in evidence anytime I have seen him post Wille Gibbs fight. But, I certainly didnt expect him to gas, he simply punched himself out.

The fight was all action from the first, but then McEwan took control and honestly where was the technical skills from Lee from rounds 2-7 - he got beat up (he looked like Duddy at times with the amount of clean headshots he was taking) and nearly stopped at the end of the 5th. At that point I thought that he was looking like a beaten fighter and I felt McEwan looked like he could pull off the stoppage win. But, McEwan (like Lee) knew that if he won looking good then it would impress the US networks so he pushed for the stoppage, but it didnt happen and he punched himself out.

Lee, to his immense credit, showed a great fighting heart, strong chin and desire to overcome his tough opponent and got his just rewards in the 9th and 10th. That is very good scalp and win for his record.

But, it was helped a lot by his opponents lack of stamina and he will needs to sit down and figure out what he did wrong in the first part of this fight, particularly his defence. I am not sold on his corner either, all I was hearing between rounds was 'breathe'.

Still, what a fight and when Lee was stopping McEwan I was stood up throwing the hooks with him and screaming at the tv - which was great at the time but I forgot I had the baby in his wee bouncer beside me and woke him up from his sleep:patsch Brilliant fight, and well done Andy Lee :good

Just after watching a video of the KO with the HBO commentary, would love if the entire fight was uploaded with their commentary. It's weird hearing Merchant, Kellerman and co. commentating on Lee.

Thats what ecto is talking about! I didn't mind the lads commentary we got on Setanta but it was very low key. Hard to go nuts on your own I suppose.

Is that some generic closed circuit commentary that gets shipped out worldwide to anyone who picks up the fight, in this case Setanta?

I don't think Lee did too badly. He showed good survival instincts to come through the tough moments, I thought he was about to fold at times but he kept going. McEwan was strong and came forward a lot but when Lee boxed he was the boss.

I was screaming at the TV for Lee to step back and use the double jab and left hand, THEN the right hook to finish instead of loading it all into the hook every time as a one-off shot. Glad to hear Lee's comments afterwards. He admitted what he had done wrong and aimed to rectify it next time.

I think Lee must be sticking around Steward's gym for the sparring because why else?

Anyone spot his brother Roger swaggering around ringside after the KO doing that funny finger clicking thing?! Bizarre.
