a southpaw really should not be so open to an overhand left. Dzinziruk squares his shoulder way too much
the only thing that disappointed me about last night was to hear him call out Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao instead of like a Andre Ward or Lucian Bute or even Carl Froch. He's is clearly too big for Manny and Floyd. I would love to see him VS Andre Ward.
Martinez has something like 20-25lbs on Pacquiao. actually did they give the fight night weights for Martinez-Dzinz?
No, the KO was not a foregone conclusion. It is hardly as if the first two knockdowns rattled Dzin to the point where he couldn't collect his senses, clear the cobwebs, and continue fighting. Recall, that Dzin was highly competitive in rounds 6-7 after the first, what, three knockdowns? You're nut-hugging for Mexican fighters is rather well known, but I was unaware that it extended to Argentine fighters of Spanish (ie Spaniard) descent. Geez.
Martinez/Pac is pointless because a weight drained Martinez has no chance vs Pac, and there is no way Pac is going to go up to Martinez's weight. Also, Martinez was FAST as hell last night.
When a fighter with Martinez's punching abilities is landing with such ease then I would probably say a KO is imminent. It's true, Dzin enjoyed some success in the two rounds before being knocked out, but how you could favor Dzin to go the distance had he not been stopped in round 8 specifically escapes me? Don't bore me with this tripe. Please. Talk Boxing.
You're blind Sergio nuthugging bores me, but I am obvious overlooking it. Why did I favor Dzin to go the distance? Ummm... because I had him winning the previous two rounds, rounds in which he fought more competitively than the previous five by a wide margin, and hadn't been seriously hurt by the previous knockdowns??
After watching one fighter get completely shutdown for the opening 6 rounds of a World Championship fight, I 'spose it can leave quite an impression to then see the same fighter actually have minimal success and scratch out a round. But that's all he was doing in reality. Consider it a blip. Once Martinez sensed that Dzin was gaining in confidence, he swiftly got him out of there. Punchstats were lopsided, as were the tallies on the scorecards, I imagine. All indicative of just how one-sided a fight this truly was. I'm actually starting to bore myself now.
Dzin made a mistake once (5th round). His coach warned him -- keep the distance don't play this game. Then he made mistake in the 8th for a second time and payed the price. So there no ifs. Still I know that Dzin really bothered Maravilla who was getting tired and was cut (most likely by right hook). Jones and Kellerman both noticed that. Roy said Martinez need to do something urgently cause Dzin won't stop coming at him and it would be really hard to deal with. Fortunately for Maravilla he succeeded.
My point was that I believed the final 7 rounds were on the verge of being more competitive than the previous 5, and they were (Dzin won rds 6-7). Would he have lost more rounds in the final five? Sure, that's why I felt the fight was headed towards an 8-4 Sergio victory. :boltbanana:banana
Martinez was making him miss in every round. It's pointless to compare the accuracy stats of two fighters when there is a huge discrepancy in shots thrown, as there were in this particular bout.
thats kellermans fault he always brings them up, he asks him something like do you want to fight pacquiao or mayweather to become p4p #1, martinez answers: yeah sure thats my dream I would love to fight them. Kellerman basically sets him up for it.
