    Just watched Sergio Martinez last night put on a masterful performance of boxing. What are your thoughts when thinking of him in dream matchups against the following:

    Robinson
    Hagler
    Monzon
    Hopkins
    LaMotta
    Fullmer
    Tiger
    Zale
    Basilio

    I wouldn´t make it a fav against any of those. He would be in with a decent to good chance against some though.

    No way would LaMotta beat Martinez. Neither would Fullmer, Basilio or Zale.

    :lol::lol::lol::lol:

    Talk about overrating the old timers.

    Yeah, cause Carmen Basillo beat SO MANY 5'10, super athletic, powerful, accurate, southpaws.

    Martinez could have very beaten all of them with the exception of prime versions of Monzon, Hagler, and Hopkins.

    And I'd make him the favorite over some.

    Dick Tiger was a beast, but Martinez is a bad style for him.

    Lamotta would have a good chance.

    Basillo, Fullmer, and Zale? **** outta here! Martinez would own them!

    Some posters have a tendancy to overrate the CURRENT fighters, but in this case... the OLD TIMERS are being considerably overrated.

    Carmen Basillo beat Martinez.:lol::lol:

    Yeah, ok.

    You talk as if Lamotta was regular sparking people out? Lamotta is an atg dont get me wrong but not a big puncher, physically strong and relentless yes but not a ko puncher,

    Of the atg mentioned id definitely pick younger Robinson,Monzon,Hagler and most likely Hopkins. Even though im confident these guys would win i think Martinez would give Hopkins all he wanted and hold his own with the others.

    For as great as Carmen Basillo was he was really a welter, i thik Martinez matches up well with him

    He probably beats Zale if fighting a disciplined fight.

    Im not necesarilly picking him over the other guys but i like his chances... :thinkHe would at the very least hold his own.

    Which world class fighters did LaMotta ever do that to? He was hardly a fearsome knockout artist.

    Martinez's footspeed would ensure him a clear UD against LaMotta.

    No, I'm not one of the tards from the general forum.

    I just dont believe that EVERY black and white fighter would beat all the current stars.

    Sergio Martinez would shred Basillo to pieces, period!

    The sad thing is.... Martinez could beat Cotto, Pac, and Floyd, and there'd STILL be old timer dick riders saying that Zale, and Basillo would have beaten him.

    Its a joke.

    Like Robinson did. :good

    btw. Martinez beating Cotto, Pac or Mayweather wouldn´t mean anything. Martinez beating, for example, Sturm, or one of the better smws would mean much more.

    If Basilio could beat SRR(even if it was a past his best Ray) and give him another tough fight in the rematch why couldnt he beat Martinez? Whats so crazy about saying Basilio would beat Martinez?

    Obviously he would beat all these guys. He knocked out Serhiy Dzinziruk last night...that guy beat a couple of ranked fighters, maybe and beat Santos.
