I'd like to see how Basillo would fare against Dzin. I guarantee you he wouldnt handle him like Martinez did. And styles make fights. As GREAT as Ray Robinson was, lets be HONEST for a second.... he wasnt a 5'10-'5'11' fleet footed southpaw who punched from weird angles. Ray was alot more inclined to brawl than Martinez, which played into Basillo's hands. Martinez would open up Basillo's face pretty badly. This ass kissing of the old timers must stop.
I'd like you point out ONE thing I said in this post thats comedy gold. I think you're talking out your ass.
Ahhh beating a 150lb Mayweather or Pac means squat but beating a 144lb Robinson or beating a 150lb past it Napoles puts you in the top10 MWs of all time :yep
I also find the thought of beating FELIX SPERM to be more impressive than beating Manny, or Floyd. Size be damned! Sturm is ass! Martinez would wipe his ass with Sturm, and it would prove little.
Stylistically and in general ability I agree, I certainly think Basilio and Lamotta are heavily overrated around here based on them having good wins over either a past it or 144lb Robinson. A fast southpaw mover like Martinez could possibly outspeed Tiger, Fullmer, Lamotta, Basilio and Zale and he may give his countryman a few problems. Although none of these are givens, smart technical pressure may edge him Martinez weakness is perhaps his low hands, which is bad defensive form if you can slip inside to pressure him. Tiger especially may punnish this brutally
Like usual ... you make no sense at all. Who is in the Top10 at mw for beating Robinson or Napoles? And who said so? :huh And yeah, beating Mayweather, who started out as a sfw, or Pac, who started out at flyweight, at mw doesn´t mean much. Everybody with some common sense would be able to see that.
Don't play games B, we know how highly you hold Monzon's win over the 34yo lightweight, Robinson started at pretty much SFW himself and Napoles started out as a LW/lower BTW you're not half a bad poster outside of the Classic buddy :good
Yeah, I think Monzon´s win over Napoles was good. It isn´t the reason he is a Top10 at mw though. Napoles although was better and more proven at his highest weight than Mayweather or Pac. Thus a win over him is more impressive. Robinson is in the running for the greatest mw himself. And is the greatest ww. Beating him is damned impressive. More so than beating Pac or Mayweather by quite a bit. I don´t rate Basilio or Fullmer in the Top10 at mw, actually not even Top15. Sorry but there is a world of difference here.
Just off his victory over the great Dzinurk guy u stack him up in fights against these guys? Have you seen Dzinurikdsmdh horrible record? Out of what 33 fights or however many he has, he only beat one good fighter in Santos. This guy is almost on the level of Buck Smith.
That doesnt take away from the fact that Mayweather and Pac are great fighters, even at the higher weights.... Mayweather and Pac might not be as naturally big as some welters from the past Oscar,Tito,Leonard,Hearns etc but there outstanding and a win for Martinez would stil be very impressive... By the way i think Mayweather is at least as natural at welter as Napoles. Napoles is an atg but a small welter, big reason he moved up was cause he couldnt get a shot at Lw. Mayweather was always a naturaly big guy at JL,Lw i think hes filled out into a natural welter. Pac is a natural jW right now.
Yes, Napoles was a small welter, true. But he still proved himself much more and against better oponents than Mayweather or Pac and thus a win over him is worth more. And yes, Mayweather and Pac are great fighters. Both will go down as atgs, no doubt. But beating them at mw does mean little. I´d prefer Martinez cleaning out the mws which is starting to shape up better. Sturm as beeing "the best of the rest" would be a good start.
Napoles is probably more proven at his highest weight, but wins over Delahoya/Cotto/Mosley/Judah/Margarito are nothing to sniff at. He isn't necessarily better at the higher weight and he hasn't won titles above 147, both Mayweather and Pac have Robinson weighed 144lbs when Lamotta beat him, he wasn't a great MW when Lamotta beat him, he was barely a WW at this time and had massive strength disadvantages
