. Mayorga was stopped in the twelfth round after suffering a thumb injury on his left hand. He told the referee that his thumb injury was preventing him from making a fist. Prior to the thumb injury, Mayorga was dropped by a counter hook.
"Im going to retire, is time for me to get a job" "Miguel Cotto hits very hard" it was not a good performance, i respect Cotto he's warrior and i thank him for giving me the opportunity to fight him"""He's a strong opponent with heavy hands". All that garbage that i said before the fight, was only to promote the fight" stated Mayorga::hi:

I feel bad for Mayorga. :verysad

This fight smacked of needing a payday on his end...and he's seemed desperate ever since signing on with that fledgling MMA promotion a while back. The fact that King put the kaibosh on that showed he still had his hooks sunk into him, which really sucks.

He doesn't have enough left to do anything but get beat up against the types of fighters that will generate a significant purse for him...and at 38 he'll just run himself ragged trying to scrape a living together by going through a hectic schedule with gauntlet of lesser fighters.

    His situation really is sad.

The get a job part was the funniest thing he said during this entire fight & build-up. Unfortunately he wasn't joking, King sued his ass off and he's only getting $50k for this fight according to some other thread.

I heard he only was able to keep $50, 000. He had to give $450,000 to Don King.

Mayorga has given us some of our finest fights, whether we were pulling for him, or against him.

His career was a roller coast ride, and one hell of thrilling one at that.

From his greatest wins, to his most humbling defeats, he NEVER failed to entertain, and I, for one, am glad he's going out on a strong performance.

Unlike Shane who will be humiliated by Pac, and was to blame for his last snoozefest, Mayorga is going out in a blaze of glory.

I gave him 4 rounds last night, which is more than many here did, and the judges were clearly seeing it from one side. He was one of those fighters, that even when clearly overmatched like last night, he could pull a win outta his ass with a huge R hand.

Props to Mayorga for a helluva a ride.

anyone involved with would get robbed, look at the situation with Louie Collazo, i spoke to him last year and he told me that he's waiting for his contract with King to expire cause he's holding him back and not getting him top $ fights.
