I just read the article at fightnews:
    http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/margarito-next-for-cotto-78321

I've always thought that Bob Arum had a LITTLE more class than King, but in the post fight interviews ... he proved me wrong again. It was disgraceful for Arum to cut in and pull Margarito up to the podium. Antonio had no reason to be up there. He was there as a spectator not a fighter. That was Cotto's moment. Here is a man that we all know cheated! He could of potentially ended Cotto's career, yet he's still here gloating!? (The proof is in the breaks, when his corner man asked about "como esta la pegada" translated to hows the punch. Not to be confused to how's his(Cotto's)punch.) ... Disgraceful ...

In times past I was a huge Margarito supporter. I would have massive debates with my friends on how he was the total package as an ultimate boxer puncher. I was heart broken when he moved up to face Daniel Santos for the 154 strap and the fight was stopped due to a cut from an unintentional clash of heads. I was in denial when Paul Williams out worked and out boxed Tony for 12 solid rounds. But now ... this man doesn't deserve to be anywhere near boxing. This was Resto/Collins Jr. all over again. I despise this man(Margarito). He's bad for boxing.

I know Cotto needs this fight to silence the demons in him, but after that, good riddance Antonio Margarito ...

Hate it or love it, this is a really good way to promote their bout.

I wish it happened in the ring though.

I know bro .. I know. It was just classless. If he(Margo)wasn't such a disgrace, I'm sure I would of been hyped.

It's called promoting, and Cotto/Margarito II is one of the most promotable fights in boxing today.

To state that Margarito does not deserve to be in a bozing ring, is wrong and makes you a ****.

Antonio Margarito took more punishment, off Manny Pac then De La hoya, Cotto, and Clottey put together. And Margarito fought right up until the end, still beleaving he could win. I have never seen that before in a fighters eye's, i never once saw defeat in Margarito's eye's. Maybe only guys like Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, Evander Holyfeild have i seen this look............

Antonio Margarito has did his time, and NOW he's back!!!

We dont know he cheated. So dont group us all together. You want to think he cheated because you are a Cotto fan. There was never any proof anywhere saying he did cheat in that fight.

If you spoke proper Spanish the way it was said meant how is Cottos punch. Gramatically it would not make sense what they said.

You are an idiot if you thought Margarito was the complete boxer-puncher package. This is just another feeble attempt by a fanboy to give himself credibility by saying they actually are a fan of the other fighter so they dont seem biased.
I really like both fighters and the reason i picked Cotto to win is because he was the complete boxer-puncher while Margarito was a 1 dimensional brawler. A great one dimension but one dimension none the less.

I still think it that Arum showed a lack of respect by not giving Cotto his spotlight. It seems that the only fighter he treats with respect is Pac.

Well sir, you're ignorance shows when you resort to name calling. Taking punishment from one man(Manny)does NOT absolve for the wrongs you committed to the other man.(Cotto) I'm sure Luis Resto would of gladly take a beat down to be able to fight again. No, but instead, he was jailed and his licence revoked indefinitely.

Regardless of the beating he took from Pac, I still maintain he didn't deserve the fight, or the purse that came along with it. But it is what it is, and he took his licks .. at least that part was worth watching.

Word. He could have quit in the 4th round when his eye socket broke but he kept going for the fans. Mayorga just quit last night on a supposedly broken thumb. Margarito had a broken eye socket and took 8 rounds of punishment on it never giving up.

    **** the haters!!

Hey idiot Resto was proven to have caused damage to a fighter with loaded gloves. Margarito was actually never proven guilty of that. Even the whole pads were never proved to be loaded. They had traces of ingredients found in both plaster of paris and hand lotion.

It irks me when people even mention Billy Collins in Margarito threads.

Collins was the victim of an assualt. Resto knowingly had his padding removed from both gloves.

Margarito has never been found to be knowing, has never acted to know, of what went on prior to his fight with Mosley.

There is no evidence that Margarito, likewise Resto, ever used enhanced wraps prior to the Mosley night.

There is little proof to suggest that what was in Margarito's wraps/pads is what we were all led to believe it was (plaster of paris), and if it was where did it come from and how was it used before (IE in Nevada where implements are provided by the commission).

Yet another ill-advised, unabatedly anti-Margarito discussion starter disguised as a genuine boxing thread.

    1. I'm not speaking for you. I'm speaking for myself and the majority of boxing fans that have done the research on Margo's fights and what we witness that evening. I do believe he and his team cheated, all the signs were there.

    2. I lived in Pureto Rico for 5 yrs, 6 yrs in various states in Mexico (D.F., Guadalajara, etc) few years in Santo Domingo, and many years in Seville, Spain .. not to mention my family is from Spain. IMO sir, I know the intention between how "is his punch" vs how "is the punch".

    3. Why was he the most "avoided man" for many years if people believed he was so "one dimensional"? Mayweather, Mosley, Oscar, Wright ... none of these guys wanted any part of him for years.

Furthermore, I'm no fanboy. I'm a fan of boxing. I have gone on the record to say that regardless of the "loaded gloves" there was no one that was gonna beat Margarito that night. His determination was just that. Cotto hit him with everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink. Cotto would have had to kill him to stop him. In any case, the point of this post(which you have completely missed)is the crashing of Cotto's moment. That was simply the point.
