Wlad's chin is actually crazy underrated...only because morons constantly throw out glass and paper chin. Wlad has a very average chin. Everytime Wlad has been sparked he got up. Taking out the Sanders fight, any other time he was beat he was completely gassed. If Wlad's chin was truly glass, he would have been ko'd all those times he was hit and he definitely would have been sparked by the hook Peter landed at the end of the 3rd round in their first fight.
Like everything else on esb it gets exaggerated to the maximum. Wlad has a decent chin. Not anywhere near a toney/tua/chuvalo level chin but he also isnt as fragile as people make him out to be. You can make a stronger argument that his stamina was weaker than his chin. Considering 2 of his 3 losses were stamina issues and not chin issues. The only real time he was ktfo was with Sanders and like people have said lewis was ktfo even worse.
Not as bad as people have made out, but lets be honest that with 3 stoppages and, what is is it, twelve trips to the canvas(?), its not his best attribute. I believe that both poor stamina and psychological aversion to being hit played a role in some of those stoppages/knockdowns. I further believe that he has eliminated both of these factors, and does not get hit nearly as much now that he avoids infighting anyway. Still, not his best attribute.
That was a short hook on the break. Jesus you post that all the time. It wasn't even a big shot and had Wlad holding on for dear life. He has a Glass Jaw. Deal with it.
It is not Morrison bad. I still think it is poor, I would say Lewis (whose chin wasn't great) had a better chin. I think his biggest problem is that when hurt a good finisher will finish him. I would say Haye has a weaker chin but he can recover better when hurt. Klitschko probly hits harder than Haye aswell and I wouldn't right off a one punch ko by him. I would say Haye is faster and goes in for the finish more when he hurts some one. I think if Wladimir gets badly hurt early he's done but like I said he can also get the ko. Neither of the two have great stamina but Wlad has the size and exp. I don't think that fight will go twelve and I can really see it ending early.
Agreed, glass jaw all the way. If Sam Peter "who nesh?!" had any killer instinct he woulda beat Wlad in the 1st round. If you think otherwise, think about it.Sammy rushes in, throwing wild power punches, wlad covers up scared. End of story
Let's not forget that Peter has no technique at all, and it was an off balance and slow shot. When you use punches like that as proof he has a solid chin, you know something is wrong. In fact, let's analyze it. Can anyone find Wlad taking 5 clean, hard shots? 10? I think it's a poor chin.
Apparently Wlad being put on ***** street for the rest of the round from a half assed Sam Peter hook on the break is evidence of his good Chin.
Sam Peter has always been an overrated puncher because of his abysmal technique any way. I wouldn't be too impressed with anyone taking his shots. He has such little technique that his raw power rarely comes into it. The only time he lands against a useful opponent is with arm punches. The knockout over Williams got people thinking he was the new Foreman or something. He's nowhere near as skilled, as fast, as powerful or anything else.
Agreed, Waldimir had been down no more than fighters like Joe Frazier and Ken Norton. And he's had almost as many fights as both put together. The "Chin" is just a way for Klitschko haters to attack him....
It's all about who you fight, not how many fights you have. Frazier and Norton got put down yes, but who against? WALDO has been flattened by fighters who are average at best, never happened to Frazier that's for damn sure. WALDO's chin would be about a 5 out of 10 for me. Lewis would have been a 7, Tyson a 9 and McCall a 10.
Been on boxrec have we :yep I know he was put down by a few obscure fighters, just like WALDO has. The difference is Norton has 4 KO losses, 3 of them were to extremely hard hitting beasts. Now let's get back to WALDO shall we? :rofl:rofl:rofl I noticed you concentrated on Norton rather than Frazier too after what I posted. Wise move sack-swinger :yep
Quality of opposition is a huge factor. Yeah, you can look at Frazier's knockdowns or Norton's, but they were fighting quality opponents and went to war with them. Sure, Quarry may not have been a knockout artist but he was a good technician and he hit Frazier with everything he had and didn't budge him. Norton took lots of punishment in his career too. You just can't do that with Wlad. In most of his fights, he hasn't taken flush, hard shots. However, he's still be stopped 3 times, down 12 times or whatever, and he's not yet faced a B-class heavy handed fighter. He's not taken flush punches either, to disprove any questions about his chin and that's even with bigger gloves than the fighters used in the 70's. They used gloves Pacquiao uses and still proved their chin more than Wlad.
