I Can't Believe Manny Steward was touting Lee as a Future Champ!

The guy is a C+ fighter at best and I'm being generous right now. He's so slow and sloppy and has poor defense. I mean he lost to Brian Vera. The same Brian Vera who got KOed in 2 by Jaidon codrington. I know styles make fights but come on.
Could you imagine Lee in there with Martinez last night? He would have been raped and slaughtered. Steward stable is a joke if that's the "King of Kronk".

The best amateur fighters of all time are still the best amateur fighters of all time, regardless if they fail to turn pro or fail to transition well into the pros.

He may be the greatest fighter Steward has ever trained from his POV, not from ours because we don't train with him, do we?

Lee is the type of guy that looks really good in the gym, but will have trouble against elite.

The whole "Brian Vera beat Lee and such and such beat Vera" is a bit out of date isnt it??

I could just as easily say McEwan dominated Vera and Lee knocked out McEwan, couldnt I?

Could be a couple of factors here. I mean do you expect Steward to come out and say:

"Yeah this guy is stiff, has little power, can be hurt etc."? Seriously?

Could just be that Lee is a beast in the Gym but in the arena he is just not as good. He would not be the first. Gerry Cooney was all world in the gym but on fight night that wasn't the case. Same with Gary Bell. And many others.

Lee in my opinion is a Class C or maybe low B fighter he seems to have no power in his left hand and his stamina is questionable. What saved him last night was he was in there with a guy that had all the faults he does and he was able to get the win. Lee makes pretty good and entertaining fights. He is what he is.

Stewart will say anything to promote himself and his fighter.
Anyone who has seen Lee and the weak opposition he is facing recognizes that he is and will always likely be a good journeyman fighter. IMHO, he doesn't have what it takes to be an elite fighter.

He is Chavez Junior level from what I've seen. That's not bad, but it's not that good either. Pirog would straight up murder his ass.

I acknowledged in my post that styles make fights. That was my way of briefly saying that I understand that its not always as simple as A>B>C=A>C in boxing. But in my opinion Lee's lost to Vera, is just simply something that would not have happened if he was as world class as Stewart was making him out to be. It wasn't a stylistic problem so much as it was just the fact that Andy Lee just isn't all that good.

If he ever learns to punch first and punch in combinations, he could be dangerous. His defense will always be suspect.
