    Gents,

I fully enjoy and admire a game and rugged vato like Ricardo Mayorga just because he's fun and makes for a good circus act surrounding a promotion. BUT! Aside from good wins over Andy Lewis and Vernon Forrest, who has Rico Mayo really beat? NOBODY!

I'm sure he's (Mayorga) made and spent a bundle of money since becoming famous with his initial big fight KO over Vernon Forrest on HBO back in 2003, but now after his latest loss to Miguel Cotto it would be nice to see him just fade away from boxing.

I guess the general point is, is it right to keep paying guys like Rico Mayo or even Tony Margarito millions' of dollars per year when its clear as day neither vato has the fire or fuel to really compete on the elite level in 2011? I say, "NO!"

Is their anyone out here who wants to see vato's like "Mayo or Margarito" continuing to milk the gravy train for big bucks in 2011?
    :huh

    Not me..:-(

OH! Based on his career as is, will Rico Mayo ever be inducted in the IBHOF up in New York? OOOH!

I would not be surprised at all if Margarito won a 154-pound world title before he hung them up.

Tony Margo was pathetic against "Mosley and Packy" in 2009 and 2010.:deal

Yet the *******o made millions' for them losses as well.:patsch

I swear, Tony M. must be very wealthy by living in Tijuana.:think

I didn't think he was pathetic against Pacquiao. Just at a massive speed and athleticism disadvantage. Against Mosely, I do think he had terrible weight issues coming into the fight, not that he would've won anyway. I don't know. I do think he still does have the fire though. The feeling of chasing redemption can be very motivating. :conf

I have no hate for these vatos of which you speak. Mayorga should seek out film roles. Margo still has a few fights left in him. Ever notice he kinda looks like the Burger King mask?

That's the fight (Mayorga-Margarito) I wanna see on some big undercard... No, not main event in 2011.... Undercard or co-main at best is, "Mayorga-Margarito" at 155 pounds with the loser fading away from boxing for all time to come......

It's totally feasible and it would actually be a great undercard fight, but I think Mayorga's done. Who knows.

  9. I dont like to still see him in the big money fights. I would like to see Mayorga get real like Zab Judah and start taking on the ranks. Treat the sport with some respect.

Rico Mayo has gone 4-5 over his last 9 fights since 2004.....:rofl

He basically wins one and then loses one.:deal

I agree, no more million dollar fights for Mayo, unless he fights Tony Margarito on a solid fight card worthy of PPV...

Mayorga is well past it, what is he 38? He doesn't have the engine he did in the Forrest fights anymore. Against Trinidad and Delahoya he looked a division or 2 too small and imo he should have stayed at 147. But hes gone for the money fights and made a fortune. I certainly think Margarito beats him at this stage

Hmmmm... I'm not sold on that notion...... Margarito has been beaten to a pulp in his last two fights against "Mosley & Packy." My gut feeling is, Margarito has had a lot of steam taken out of him as well... Plus, he is also upward of 33 yrs in age.... Me thinks Margarito is also faded and shot in 2011 if pitted with a star fighter....

I don't think 32 is upward of 33. Perhaps it used to be, even though that makes no mathematical sense. But definitely probably not now. Also faded and shot are two different things in most of our minds, I think.

Marg can still throw 100punches a round, I dont think Mayo can keep up with that, but then again Marg should be easy to hit and maybe his power will get Margs respect, could be a backburner
