Besides being a special fighter (obviously ) you have to have three things to beat Floyd. 1)You have to be fast 2)You have to have unbelievable stamina 3) YOU HAVE TO BE LEFT HANDED. Floyds best weapon is his shoulder roll. You cannot get past it if you right handed. Hooks don't work on him because he sees them coming in slow motion. You have to have a straight left cross behind blazing speed ala zab Judah. And you have to do it for 12 roundts un ala Zab Judah. This is why we won't see him in the ring with pac or Martinez..... but for the record I think Martin belongs at 168 so I don't fault may for not fighting him. He looks huge for 160 Just my opinion. Don't get your panties in a bunch if you don't agree.
The key to beat Floyd is very simple. A fighter who has a high workrate and a great defense. That would be poison for his style.
A Wilfred Benitez would have beaten Floyd handily. He was aggressive and was a defensive master. Pernell comes to mind as well. Duran was an offensive juggernaut and has very underrated defense.
pac is the only one who can beat him. hes the only with the right tools. iff they were to fight im not sayin pac would win but man hes the only who can.

There is a blue print to beat floyd, the problem is their is no fighter to execute the game plan. The answer lies in the fights he had trouble in. Judah, Castillo, and De La Hoya. They all have one thing in common, they were bigger than floyd. I always said the person to beat floyd was a big welter. You also need to have a jab. I don't care what anyone says, you can't beat floyd without a jab. A jab off sets floyd's rhythm. Also you need to be close to him in skill. Finally you have to be able to apply affective pressure. Not what hatton did coming in with his face wide open. If there was a fighter who can do this they have a great chance at beating floyd.
1. I agree 2. I also agree. 3. Not so fast. Southpawa cause problems for everyone even other southpaws who are also used to fighting orthodox boxers. While the southpaw style is very good at countering the Philly-Shell. Mayweather also uses a more "normal" defensive hand poistion as well. Mayweather's main combo is the stright right fallowed by a left hook. Which happens to be the best combo for dealing with southpaws.
I do think you need to be bigger than Mayweather to beat him. I think that you need to use the old 1,2,3, or Jab, Stright, Hook combo. Some times it is the basics that dose more than anything else. I think speed and or timing is a must. Basicly the plan is to counter the pull counter. 1. Jab If you miss that's ok. I think that when his oppoents start missing with their jab they stop throwing it. This is a huge mistake. 2. Send the stright in right after the jab. This needs to be a premedataed move. Idealy you are landing when he's throwing his counter right atempt. If everything goes right he will be walking into that punch. 3. The hook to the head or body. If everything has gone right you at the very least stunded Mayweather with two punches down the line. Now it is time for a punch that comes off line. They say the punches that get you are the ones you don't see, and that is the idea here. 4. Reset your defense for the next exchange. If there is one. I think that the problem is that there are very few boxers not just now but in history that can beat Mayweather.
Don't forget angles :happy Also you need a very good trainer and power in both hands and uh....:huh what else is Pacquiao good at
