What was Haye's amateur career like?

    I know he missed out on the Olympics to Fragomeni and won a silver in the World Championships but he didn't win an ABA. Any reasons for this? Who'd he lose to domestically?

    David was a class act as an amateur an to be fair I've never seen him take a loss badly, even when robbed as an am which he had been a few times..

    Wasn’t the complete article until he was around 20... went up to heavyweight at the world championships after the BOA chose Courtney Fry in 2000.

    Lost in the final after a freak injury to his right arm.

    he stayed amateur too long and didn't seem to take the professional game seriously until he was too old
