Fortuna, 14-0, 11 KOs handled by Sergio Martinez's team... promoter Lou DiBella adviser Sampson Lewkowicz trainer Gabriel Sarmiento. Does anybody know anything about this guy? I tried youtube and nothing came up. He fought on the undercard of Martinez/Dzi. I'm waiting for a Dominican to do something big in boxing for a long time. Since Guzman shitted his future away.
If you can get hold of the UK broadcast they showed his fight. Doesn't seem to be on the internet though :-(
Saw him for the first time over the weekend. Has decent enough power but he is nothing special. If Wilson had more power he'd have given him a lot of trouble. Having said that, he's young so he has time to improve but I don't think he had the fundamentals to be a dominant force. That's obviously a premature judgement but that's the way I see it right now.
That was an entertaining wee fight and a good match for Fortuna at this stage of his career. But, I think his defence was very leaky, he shipped a lot of flush shots and if Wilson possessed any power he would have stopped him.
Was at the fight over the weekend, and while it was a good performance he did look quite sloppy at times and was getting hit on several occasions be some well timed counter punches. Looks to have good power though.........or maybe just not great resistance from wilson
Fortunas wild. Hes still got that carelessness of youth. When he throws combos hes standing square with no guard a lot and is wide open to counters. Wilson caught him flush a few times but just didnt have the power to bother him. Once they dont try move fortuna too fast he should be alright. He needs to start thinking in the ring instead of just looking for the ko. Hes just a kid so plenty of time to tighten things up.
He's a very good looking prospect with good power. People saying that Wilson would've knocked him out if he had any power.....Yeah right, and Sergei Dzinziruk would've stopped Martinez if had any power......Sure, Wilson landed some flush shots but hes got very fast hands and Fortuna wanted to trade punches with him anyway so I don't see why that's a big deal. Wilson was a decent fighter coming in with his confidence high and held wins against 2 undefeated fighters, looking for his third in Fortuna, but Fortuna whooped that ass proper.
All I know is that he's heavy-handed with Power. HBO showed a SNIP-IT so there wasn't much to see. A good Friend of mine (a Dominican in Washington Heights NYC) told me that technically he's NEEDS ALOT OF WORK. Can't wait to see him.
