What tantrum? Is that some sort of black lingo which also means "I can't name any other fighter that has done what he did regardless of the circumstance, so I'll just gonna resort to name-calling to hide my stupidity" Please. EDIT: Oh wait, I forgot we're on ESB's general forum, please ignore my response above, the one below is more appropriate here: F*ck you nuthugging fool. /eom
Maybe I rate pac more than you do, I dunno, but I believe he's too good for the welterweight and should challenge himself at 154.
154 is too much for Pac. Have we all forgotten the 150 bull**** "title" fight against Margo? He came in as a freaking WW. The only way Pac-Martinez would happen is if Floyd chickens out some more and the whole world ask Pac to do it. But notice that video where Pac was reacting to Martinez' recent success. PAC IS WILLING TO DO IT. Even asking his team mates what weight they would fight at, and further commenting that he (Sergio) is slow and "only has decent power". And we all know Pac doesn't talk trash. The more reasonable challenge is at 140, but these fighters should fight each other first or they all move up to 147 when the time is ripe. After all, they are still of bigger physique than Pac even at welter. But all these talks of "Pac is nothing special, just a result of careful matchmaking" is sickening. Funny thing is, the common denominator of these ****-talkers are: - they are fans of Floyd and started talking out of their asses the moment Pac became a real threat to Floyd at welter, or; - they think JMM steamrolled Pac twice.
His hype will go down the drain if he challenges for possibly his 5th lineal title and 9th weight class and loses? When he's already a small welter?
Simply hypothetical situations, sir. Besides, if there's anything Pacquiao has taught us, it's that expectations are meant to be shattered. It's also why I mentioned Martinez; he's currently quite hot in the media, is his in his prime, is elite in terms of skill, and enjoys considerable size advantage. All factors combined would make for a scintillating win if it occurred -- and with risk, ostensibly, comes reward. I did not mean to give the impression, if you feel that was conveyed, that Pacquiao necessarily beats Martinez (at any weight)-- nor that his prospects are good for doing so. Simply that, given such a hefty accomplishment, what that'd do to your perceptions of him. Additionally, thanks to all for the responses.
As I said, maybe I rate pac more than you do. I don't think 154 is too big for pac. I'd favour him against most of the lightmiddleweights in the world.
:-( hatton dominated malignaggi and became the first boxer to stop him prior to getting KTFO by wapakman:hi:
If pac beat Martinez... *****: Martinez is weight drained and looks like a zombie. *****: Pac is on AsideMEFF.
People saying that if Pac beat Martinez at 160 and he would break the top 25, get real what more does he have to do to be in the top 10, beat a Klit. If Pac DID (i highly doubt it) beat Martinez at 180, even 158. Hes a lock for top 10 no doubt about it.
Fair enough, but I'd say 60-40 in favor or Sergio is more realistic for me. I saw Pac almost taking a knee when he took 2 consecutive shots of a MW Margo to the body -- and Margo's not a single punch artist. I'm pretty sure Sergio will capitalize on that "weakness" (as Shane will). I am probably giving him more chances than the rest of the crowd here only because he was also able to back -- almost KD/KO -- Margo down. That says his punch can still make MW's go to a shell. If he backs up Sergio and do a more finesse in and out movement and can survive the first 4 rounds impressively while taking Sergio's best shots, then the fight is his.
