for the purpose of this question, it doesn't matter if the wins are tainted in any way. let's just get some names and numbers down.

i'll start with marciano, who beat charles, moore and louis - each can be easily justified as top twenty pound for pounders (all-time).

Charles beat Louis at Heavyweight, Moore at Lt. Heavyweight (thrice), and Burley at Middleweight. I don't think anyone's topping that.

Jack Dillon, Tommy Gibbons,Mickey Walker, Battling Levinsky, Maxie Rosenbloom,
Tiger Flowers, EIGHT Hall of Famers, almost all who were BIGGER than rhe amazing
    Pittsburgh Windmill...

you'd certainly see tunney and walker on top twenty lists. i'm not sure if any of the others would be on the majority of people's lists. greb was amazing though, burt!

True G,that Gene Tunney and Mickey Walker were great alltime fighters, but
so was the prime Jack Dillon who would have been a match for Sam Langford
at equal weights during Dillon's heyday.I have read opinions of oldtime boxing writers who claimed that Langford never sought out Jack Dillon for a match between the two.Jack Dillon was a powerful "white" counterpart of Sam Langford, also earning the nickname "Jack the Giant Killer ".
Tommy Gibbons in my eyes ,was one of the best lightheavies of alltime, though never winning a title. Tommy Gibbons had 106 fights losing
only twice to Harry Greb [who hasn't],and to the bigger Jack Dempsey when Tommy was 32 years old.He lasted 15 rounds in the hot sun, with the Manassa
Mauler. No small feat, I say. And Gibbons was stopped only ONE time in his last bout to Gene Tunney in 1925,when Tommy was 34 years old. I was hooked on gibbons when i saw a film of Gibbons flattening Jack Bloomfield
in London, with an assortment of punches that would have done Archie Moore
proud. I saw this clip on youtube 1 year ago. It was an eye opener for me.
It should be shown again on youtube once again as a "community" sevice
for ESB fans. So, G, Greb licked these great fighters along with Tommy Loughran, not an easy thing to do...

yeah they were. i just wanted to see if i'd missed anyone who'd fought and beat the elite of the elite numerous times. but it seems as though charles is out on his own in this regard...
