Did Oscar sacrifice being weak for the Pac fight, just to get the fight made?

Actually going into the Pacquiao fight, DLh did'nt look at it as he sacrificing........

I'm certain DLH was looking at it from the perspective that he would go down a weight divsion but essentially was going to fight a limited skilled fighter who was a force two weight divisions below.

Knowing that he had failed in beating P4P fighters his size or bigger, what DLH wanted was the opportunity to meet a smaller p4p fighter and see if he could beat him and secure a legacy that was standing on shaky ground already from losing his biggest fights.......

..........since he could not ask Pacquiao to move up 3 weight divisions, the only chance for that fight to get made was to have DLH come down one division.....

In all honesty, looking it back then from the standpoint and not taking into account that Pacquiao was enhancing himself through artificial means, I and most others were of the thinking that Pacquiao was sacrificing more in going up 2 weight divisions than DLH coming down one.........

.....but of course the common knowleadge back then from those that know the sport was that DLH would sacrifice somewhat to make 147 lbs, but dehydrate back to 160 lbs the night of the fight........
.....for some reason it did'nt pan out that way for DLH, he weighed 145 lbs and basically his body could not rehydrate as his fightnight weight of 147 lbs showed.

Pacquiao it turned out weighed more than DLH on the night.:!:

that was a pretty straight forward yes/no question I asked.

fact is, fighters sacrifice being weak to make big fights happen all the time. Marquez moving up from 135 to 147 is another example.

You know better than to expect a yes or no answer from me.......
Most things are not as simple as yes or no, and require explanations.

.....but back to the point that was being made in this thread and your stupidity to believe that Pacquiao now is going to weaken himself by narrowing the testing window and not ask Mayweather for anything in return!

You're entitled to your opinion, but I can only say that you're stupid if you believe Pacquiao is narrowing the testing window even if it makes him weak (like in the first Morales fight :|) simply to get the fight made.

Pacquiao has then not learned his lesson from the first Morales fight.

"oh oh, blood testing makes me weak, though it might be just mental.".......what a ****ing outrage!:patsch

whatever dude. Even if Pac had not been blood tested in the last 24 days of his training camp... I've read that hgh takes 3-4 weeks to even start having effects. And he would have to cut soon enough to clear the post fight blood test. And he would still be getting urine tested throughout the rest of his training camp. And he would be tapering off in the last week of training like he always does so PEDs wouldn't even help him there.

Being totally honest here, I dont think any of us here have any idea......

I believe only those that have been in the thick of things and actually gotten tested would know under what circumstances and how many days they would need not to get caught.

The last I read in an article of Tour de France cyclist, those guys test year round and throughout the tour stages......and some of the cyclist there have stated that all they would need to pass a PED test is know the day before that they were coming to test.......so go figure.

yea, but Pac would not be awarded that luxury (knowing a day in advance).

and btw, I saw an Amir Khan interview where he says that at the olympics, boxers are only randomly urine tested before their fights, and that there's a mandatory blood test AFTER every fight.

Listen, I'm 100% for better testing. But I don't think the testing should compromise the fighter's performance in any way shape or form. Even if there's a 0.1% chance. I also think that if a potential opponent tried to strong arm me into taking tests by accusing me of cheating, i would tell him to **** off.

If it were up to me, the boxing commissions should have a rule that any title holder or mandatory challenger is automatically subjected to year round, random, unannounced blood and urine testing. But in the final weeks leading up to the fight they wouldn't have to worry about it. Alot of these guys are cutting weight or trying to be mentally focused and they don't need that **** bothering them.

They could pay for the testing with the ridiculous sanctioning fees they charge. At least they would gain a little cred.

Thats what Khan said, it may not be the case today.....

In cycling they test urine, blood, and hair, and throughout the stages........
If it weakens riders, no rider was tested more than Lance Armstrong and he won 7 ****ing tours in dominant fashion.

.......and you stated that HGH takes 3 to 4 weeks to kick in......
Obviously the cheats at the tour are either not using HGH or are finding ways to mask a positive test result.

Who the hell knows what Pacquiao takes, the thing looking bad on him is that he did'nt want to take the tests and acted through his embarrasment of excuses, guilty as ****.

Let's just make sure the tenets of this argument are set.

    1. You said (to paraphrase) "size is irrelevant".
    2. I said "ok, so then Ward should get credit for beating Donaire".

What else is needed here to prove that you are wrong?

Well, I didn't say this at any point. I said that you can't move up a notch on the pound for pound scale by beating someone substantially smaller than you. Because pound for pound you have proved nothing. Again, please let me know what else is needed here for you to understand this.

Haha! What do you think pound for pound means then? Oh wait, here it comes...

I don't know how best to break this down for you. Let's try it like this. Does it make more sense that the term "pound for pound champion" means:

    1. The fighter who has beaten the best in their respective division. (note: apparently, the term "welterweight champion" does not suffice, for fighters who have beaten the best in the welterweight division?); or
    2. The fighter who beats larger men regardless of differences in size, thus proving that pound for pound (that is, if every boxer in the world was the same size), this fighter would be the champ.

Alternatively, please just find another person who agrees with you that the term "pound for pound" has nothing to do with size. Please note also that the term "pound" as used in this instance, is a measurement of mass. And I don't (well, hope I don't) need to remind you what size is.

Also, please find me a credible pound for pound top 20 list that includes a big heavy weight like George Foreman or Lennox Lewis. At best you will find people like Ezzard Charles who fought in the heavy weight division but were really light heavies. And the implications of this on my argument... well hopefully they aren't lost on you.

with his lover jmm losing luster, divac had become very bitter about pac these days, even accusing pac of peds without a single shred of documented proof to back it up.

nobody's actually listening to him these days so just don't mind that pathetic sore loser.

Damn. Then you'll NEVER be satisfied with any test. If an athlete tests negative you'd say he's taking something to mask a positive test. No test result is right until you hear what you want to hear.

Pac said he is willing to take whatever tests the boxing commissions mandate. Floyd says he's on a crusade to clean up the sport. He's had plenty of time to take up his OSDT proposal to the NSAC.

Yes EPO and HGH won't have any significant effects until after about 4 weeks. Nobody will use those PEDS too close to the fight since it won't do anything to them. If you want to catch HGH or EPO, it's better to test randomly FARTHER from fight night since you can only detect those in the bloodstream 2 days after taking it in.
