Rachael Donaire just screwed over her husband's career. Arum is not a person to be ****ed with, he is single handily switching the tide in boxing from HBO to Showtime.

 

Isn't TR hooked up with CBS now? So instead of fighting on CBS with a possible audience of 200 million, Nonito will be fighting on HBO with an audience 28 million, with that number dwindling.

I just hope Nonito got one heck of a signing bonus because he might have to retire on that.

......interesting.....I've read the article and from what I gather of it, Donaire's contract with Arum has expired, but Arum wants to keep the contract alive stating that because of two injuries suffered by Donaire that prevented him from fighting for 6 months apiece, his contract with him is still valid.

What kind of nonsense is Arum trying to pull?

From what I understand, when a promoter signs a fighter its either for an X amount of fights or for a specific time period.

......I've never heard of a fighters contract being forced to be extended beyond its expiration date because of an injury suffered by the fighter.

Is Arum delusional, what the hell is going on here that I'm missing?


Unless there is a clause in Arum's contract with Donaire that states that an injury suffered by the fighter extends the life of the contract beyond the expiration date, Arum does'nt have a leg to stand on.
.....and even then, Arum would have to prove through some type of doctors note that Donaire was prohibited from fighting during that time period.



I've just looked up Donaire's fights from 10 years back to present, and he's never gone over 6 months without taking a fight.
The normal time between fights for a fighter is between 4 and 6 months.
......this proves Donaire has never been out for an extended period of time, and shows once again that Arum is a ****ing lieing, corrupt, dishonest turd that would go as far as to stab his own mother in the back.:deal

It does seem reasonable however, that a contract for a fighter can be extended if the promoter does his part and the fighter couldn't because of injuries. Maybe Arum is referring to the period after Luis Maldonado?

 

I missed that. Donaire went 11 months without a fight after that Maldonado fight.
.....and even so, Arum would have to have a clause in the contract stating he could extend it because of injury.
....and even then, I dont see where Arum could extend it past 5 months and not the 1 year he's talking about, the reason being is that a fighter is allowed time to heal after a fight, and a fighter like Donaire fighting at least every 6 months should be more than enough to satisfy a time oriented contract as a fighter.

Having gone 11 months without a fight means Arum missed out on 1 additional fight by Donaire that he could have made.


Honestly is going to be hard for Arum to prove his case, because its not like Donaire purposely did withheld from fighting and did not honor the contract, in fact he was a consistent performer who fought often for Arum.

Donaire just KTFO Fernando Montiel, becomes a sensation, the boxing masses are now recognizing him.........and Arum's contract with him is up. Arum must be steamed he did'nt entice Donaire to sign a lucrative contract before the Montiel fight.
