I know why David Haye moved up from cruiser to heavy. The gobby **** was scared to death of Danny "the cruiserweight king" Green. It's obvious Haye has ducked our Danny.

Sorry mate, I didn't see BJ get his arse kicked. It was probably the easiest payday he'll ever receive.

    Thanks for your reply mate.
It's good to hear constructive critisizm from someone in here as opposed to the usual Green hate in the forum.
To be honest i don't really have any issues in what you've said and i can guarantee you i was gutted after the Briggs fight:dead
The Siaca fight wasn't much better and since then I've had to take a lot of **** from people and at the end of the day Danny ****ed up and his rep has paid the price no doubt about it but at least he took a step in the right direction fighting Flores.
Onto your comments about the IBO title i guess he's in a tough situation because its a marketing tool that generates $$ for his fights and it served a good purpose in getting RJJ out here but it has definaltly run its race so to speak.
The main problem is that Danny really isn't naturally big enough to be a cruiserweight so he got a bit heavier with each fight but its going to be hard for him to fill into a true cruiserweight with him losing 10kg recently.
I actually wish he would go back to light heavy as well.
As for the Tarver fight i wont deny that i would be pumped for that fight and i understand there will be critisizim for him fighting a 42yo fighter but i still think this is a good fight that will have appeal and will do well drawing a crowd and should be successful financial department as well.
I guess at the end of the day Danny is wearing two caps 1 as a fighter the other as a promoter and it can be a fine line between sinking and swimming.
One of the other problems is that DAnny is 1 of the few Australian fighters who can earn more money fighting at home than he can by going to the states or Germany so i understand that at 38yo he's not really interested in fighting outside of Australia on other peoples promotions but i know he has tried to get the polish champ out here and there have been talks with the wba champ Jones which could be a possibility later in the year.

Nice to see a bit of respect floating around the forum :good

So you do believe in Danny, Contendo? Which way does he go, follow the dream of becoming a legit world champion or take the clever road home?

there was nothing wrong at all with flores. 12 months since last fight means little these days. sure its not ideal but the guy could fight, thats all that matters imo.

but yes it has been a huge letdown. but if people pay for the crap fights then these guys will put crap fights on.

The funny thing is that if you surveyed these mugs that attend and/or buy these bogus fights that Mundine and Green put on i would bet that the majority would not know who Pernell Whitaker is. These types of people are not boxing fans.

No OIAM, I said I have been a Green fan in the past, but certainly post RJJ, his stocks have diminished with me plainly due to the opponent choice and in my opinion, taking the far too easy route. The IBO 'Dannyweight' farce has just put a poor slant on things for me when I still thought he had something to offer.

I respect Danny in other areas such as his promotional input he's putting back into Australian boxing, plus massive respect for the effort and financial underpinning he undertook bringing RJJ here in the first place which did Australian boxing a great service.

However, Danny is where Danny is in his career as Left Jab quite correctly points out being 38yrs of age, I personally can't see him doing much more than the current, hand-picking opponents to continue his PPV push whilst waiting for the outcome of Mandy vs. Green.

Whoever win's that epic, up-coming bout in Brisbane I personally feel has an able and ready dance partner in Green awaiting them. MainEvent will push for anything Mandy, Green and to a lesser extent Wood so it does seem a potential scenario between themselves.

I mean it's not like Danny didn't recently submit a proposal to Wood's people, but then withdrew it once Mandy vs. Wood realised is it? :hey

Agree with you LJD, and the future direction for Green is not that straight forward.

He's probably only got 3 or 4 fights left in him anyway IMO, but I'd much rather see him at light heavy.

The above is the crux of the problem right there - it's a pure conflict of interest.

Promotes a stratgecially matched fight for his fighter in order to 'sell' his show to both his audiences - in venue and TV, whilst at the end of the day fundametally not wanting his 'meal ticket' to get beat, hence potentially affecting future income.

Internal 'will' and 'ego' want to fight the best possible opponent to validate their fighter instincts. If a true fighter, they fight to prove themselves as a quality fighter, winning titles where possible and being appropriately remunerated for their services.

How does the fighter ethically where both hats when he is also the promoter?

Hence why you have situations like Mandy vs. his litergy of **** opponents, Green vs. some stupid choices and even Ryan Waters vs. a blown up, done and dusted Gairy St. Clair.
