He is just doing his part. DeGale has gone from a decent amateur (got to the last 32 in the worlds) to winning the gold medal and his confidence is so so high. With DeGale its all about mentality right now.

McDonnels brother was my PE teacher at school. Guy was a ****ing scary dude. One time me and 4 mates were in the woods smoking. He saw us and said i will give you 10 seconds to run, if I catch any on you your going to see the head teacher. He bloody caught 3 of us and carries us back to the office lol

I thought he was a little disrespectful but in all fairness, he may well be right and it might be too soon for Groves.

For me though, the fight makes sense to happen now. Whoever loses will likely lose confidence but if they're gonna be truly world class in the future, they'll need to be strong mentally and be able to overcome setbacks. Similar to how David Haye responded. If that happens to George Groves then big deal. He can just get back to learning and may well end up more successful than DeGale in the future.

But hey, that's just IF DeGale wins. If DeGale loses, he'll have been the biggest hype job for a long time.

Even if it's a scrappy, poor fight I'm glad it's happening now and I wouldn't write George Groves off easily.

In the exchanges between the two camps hayemaker have came out a lot better. Adam Booth for all the shite he talks he came across as quite a good guy. McDonall came across like abit of a tit regardless of how right he may have been

    :lol::lol:

Every time I watch a piece of video regarding Groves/DeGale it makes me question my decision on who would win. Personally I thought Groves would win. But as pointed out by McDonall, Groves defence is **** as shown against Anderson. But he has proved he can take a dig and get on and win.

But yeah McDonall and DeGale come across as petulant **** ****s there.

On a side note in that vid, Cleverly has the look of "Why am I here" when DeGale and Groves are going at it :)

Used to like him but recently he seems a real arsehole. Remember him interrupting Smith (I think) on Ringside and saying "Listen, I'm a fighter, from a family of fighters...", in other words shut your ****ing mouth you know nothing.

I think Groves is going to have the neutrals vote in this one, watching Ringside I was amazed he didn't smack Degale one.

im typing this as he rants:

jeeez man he's preaching there...sounds like he's bottled a lot of annoyance towards GG and Booth but he actually said some of the things I mentioned in my speech i wrote for JDG

hes quite bitter really. i reckon he dislikes the smarminess of team groves. he's got a point about GG's defence.

    what a ****ing plonker...:patsch

he's helping sell this **** though!

for all the abuse i give Booth i think he is quality

Jim McDonnell isn't the sharpest tool in the box I think that's clear. Degale's good but jesus, anyone would think he had Manny Pacquaio's speed, Marciano's power, and Sweet Peas defence. The guy is nuts.

Apart from the 'lying to himself' bit, I actually agree with McDonnell.

I don't think it was the best thing for him to say it though.

watching that and the ringside stuff i've come away thinking that
    a) for 2 people who are unconcerned by groves and who are going to come away with an easy victory ,mcdonnell and de gale seemed 'mighty vexed' and on edge about the whole thing
    b) for somone who's going to get his head knocked off in a round and whose career will then be ruined groves (&booth) seem mightily unconcerned!

    1st round to groves/booth imho
