What was really impressive to me that about that which can't really be seen in that video is that as Mayweather started his motion Marquez had his guard up but by the time the punch landed Marquez had dropped his right allowing the hook to land. Mayweather is the type of guy to that makes his punches count, someone who isn't going to just hit gloves for flair points, so it seems as though he knew that Marquez was going to drop that right hand. Which leads to another question as to why Marquez would drop his hands when a hooking is coming and guess is that maybe Mayweather does something subtle, perhaps make it look as though the punch is going to be jab and turns it into a hook while Marquez had his sight on throwing a counter right off of the jab.

 Seems everybodies not on the same page with me on this one. To begin with, if you have fast hands or you have good feints you can get away with it, like someone else mentioned, vs opponents that dont match your speed. The thing with judah is he did match floyds speed, but gassed out. I was actually praising floyd here and didnt want to mention any other fighter to discredit floyd because Im not, but since folks are bringing this up Sergio was jabbing to razors body throughout the whole fight. That is just one example. Every punch you throw there is a counter for it.

How about when he dodges the jab, counters with the right, then ducks the other guy's right (see Marquez and/or Mosley)?! That's a beautiful thing!

Floyd feinted making it look like he was going to throw an uppercut from the outside, so Marquez takes the bait and attempts to jab. That feint motion was used as a disguise then he looped his left hand around and over the top to land that leaping left hook. $ did it all in one motion.

Floyd knew how fast Zab was. That's why he made sure to destroy that body to reduce all that speed.

His reflexes aren't toast, he's still an elite fighter. 18 months before Mayweather fight he was busting up Pacquiao and arguably won that fight and he's gone on to have a couple good wins after the Mayweather fight.

Not one of those was a jab to the body. Just saying. Floyd threw a right hand, Cotto a left hook... I have no idea why you posted the Margarito clip for this discussion.

    Did you have a point?

None of these are a jab to the body, the closest is probably is the attempted right hook by Cotto and that is no where near the speed Pretty Boy Floyd is at.

Still Pacquiao's right hook > Zab Judah's right hook.

    But more importantly.

    Pretty Boy > Money

No, he doesn't. He's the same kid that thinks southpaws counter orthodox jabs with a "straight right".

I've been learning this punch at the gym. Basically you have to throw it when your opponent steps to his left and is not balanced to throw a right hand counter. Feint upstairs, bend forward and throw downstairs. The way I learned it is to bring your right hand across your left cheek to block any potential counters. Floyd doesn't do that but it looks like he pushes off with his jab to get out of range quick.

but I think a rangy fighter with a good right hand counter could come over the top that jab and hit him clean.
