Mundine to fight for world title in 2011

no he was a regular WBA champion twice meaning Ottke and Kessler were above him and the IBO isnt a credible

I think Mundines fight against Echols in 2003 was a legit title fight, for the vacant WBA World super middleweight title? and also the one with Soliman?

The WBA Super Middleweight Title was vacated when Sven Ottke was upgraded to "Super" champion status.

Mundine then defended the WBA World SM title against Yoshinori Nishizawa in 2004 and then eventually lost it in his next fight to Siaca in the same year.

2005, Failed in attempt to win it from Kessler.

2007, He won the vacant WBA World super middleweight title against Sam Soliman then defends the title against Pablo Daniel Zamora Nievas and Jose Alberto Clavero in the same year.

2008, Mundine gives Nader Hamdan a shot at the WBA title and Sam Soliman his rematch.

Not sure what happens to the WBA title after that, he fights Crazy Kim but not for the title, likewise with Rafael Sosa Pintos, i assume he vacated it?

 

I don't regard Mundine as ever being a world champion.

inherited the WBA whereas Jeff Lacy had to fight
someone for Svens IBF belt.when Kessler beat Beyer
and unified WBA/WBC Mundine beat Soliman to
become regular so when Joe took his belts and went
to LHW Mundine inherited the WBA belt whereas
THE WBC and WBO belts were contested by people
i just dont count Mundines titles.

Mundine never actually took a title off anyone. He held a ******* world title from the WBA who seem to be giving away belts for fun these days.

 

The vacant WBA SMW title Mundine fought Echols for on 03/09/2003 wasn't the full title - Ottke held it the full version of it, and had been elevated to 'Super Champ' status after defeating Byron Mitchell to unify the IBF and WBA SMW titles on 15/03/2003.

When Ottke retired on 27/03/2004, Mundine 'inherited' the full WBA SMW title, only to lose it to Siaca on 05/05/2004.

Period full title held = 39 days.

The vacant WBA SMW title Mundine fought Soliman for on 07/03/2007 also wasn't the full WBA SMW title, as Kessler held the full version of it and had also been elevated to 'Super Champ' status after defeating Markus Beyer to unify the WBA and WBC SMW titles on 14/10/2006.

When Kessler lost to Calzaghe in their unification fight on 03/11/2007, Calzaghe took the full WBA SMW title and was elevated to 'Super Champ' status.

When Calzaghe moved up to LHW to fight Hopkins on 19/04/2008 he effectively vacated his SMW titles, so Mundine again 'inherited' the full title, only to vacate it when he moved to MW to fight Crazy Kim on 30/07/2008 (coincidentally, this was when Kessler had become Mundine mandatory defence :yep).

Period full title held = 102 days.

Mundine beat Geale on 27/05/2009 for the full IBO MW title, only to vacate it when he moved back up to SMW to fight Falliga on 21/10/2009.

Period full title held = 145 days.

 

As we all know the IBO belt and WBA regular belts are both bogus so they don't count. When Mundine held the full WBA title he effectively received it by default because the real champion retired/moved up weight divisions. Mundine never beat anyone to be declared the full WBA champion and never defended said belt successfully.
Which ever way Mundine and his fans would like to portray him genuine fans of the sport know he has never been a world champion and his WBA regular belt reign was nothing more than being the WBA's number 1 contender at that time.

 

Both Mundine and green havn't held legit world titles.

Green won his WBA light heavy beating Drews in 2007
Drews had won the title from Branco in 07 who intern had beaten siaca for the INTERIM title in 06 , so it was a interim title passed through 3 hands in 3 fights ,hardly a true belt there and then green retired.

Who out of the current aussie crop have held a legit world title?

Also when was the last aussie to hold a legit world title?

Echols had major problem's with substance abuse,he was ripe for the picking and Mundine was aware of it.!!!!!

 

yeah but to non genuine fight fans and in Danny Greens
case the nursing staff and patients at Busselton Hospital
they are 3 time world champions.lets hope Garth knocks
Mundine senseless again and Shane Cameron gets
lucky and Green leaves the ring in his next fight on a stretcher and they never box again.:thumbsup
hope Greens stable is a success and raises boxings profile though.
