You are completely right, but depending on the state and kids? That won't even protect you. Contracts aren't airtight when it comes to marriage because "welfare" of the children will trump any kind of agreement you had beforehand. I mean making it out of a marriage without alimony, but $15k in "child support" for 18 years ain't really a win.
