For the Misinformed "Pirog has only beat Jacobs" Crowd

Okay -- Martinez wants a big payday. He could fight Bute in Canada, and earn 7 figures. He could rematch Pavlik at a catchweight of 166, and earn a 7 figure payday. He could beat Pirog on an international television broadcast, and the Pavlik-Bute paydays would be even bigger. What would he make fighting Manfredo?

 

There are two sides to Pirog's level of competition. For a guy with 17 fights his competition has been good. Jacobs was a highly rated prospect and guys like Jantuah, Mitchell, and Toygobaynev were all tough veteran gate keepers at the point when Pirog beat them. Pirog has clearly been matched tough for a guy with only 17 pro fights.

The problem isn't with Pirog's record its that he hasn't gotten the resume to warrant fighting Martinez yet. He simply needs a nice win or two against guys at the next level. Get on HBO a time or two and put another name or so on his record and then a Martinez-Pirog fight becomes pretty big. Right now it looks like all risk and little reward for Martinez.

 

Dont worry boo, if Sergio wont end up fighting pacman or floyd you might get your wish. From 154-168 Sergio is a threat to anyone.

 

there's nothing Pirog can do when guys his own size are avoiding him and instead chasing after midgets. I'm surprised that HBO is pretending Pirog doesn't exist. the network would probably avoid putting him in a card like a plague

 

Votskzyicic my drunk Serbian friend. Martinez would destroy Pirog right now. Give the guy time to develop before another one of your fighters gets embarrassed in the ring.
