    ***************************************************************

First boxing workout in 6 months (barring an ill-advised sparring session 3 months ago). Starting slow, not rushing into it.

    1 rd shadowboxing

Full-body stretching (static, 30sx2 each stretch)
Dynamic stretching/dancing around (to a remix of Can't Touch This/Superfreak. It was awesome and not gay at all.)
    2 rd shadowboxing
6 rds heavybag/double-end bag (just boxing, no special drills this time. Alternated bag each round.)

Walked around a few minutes to cool down.

Short little workout. Gonna do something similar once or twice more this week with jumproping and/or conditioning as a finisher, then add some rounds and maybe sparring next week. No promises. I'm not sparring if I still feel like ****.

Might get into some running and hillsprints if the weather continues to warm up around here (was 36 degrees today and felt like glorious summer). If it stays cold I'll just make do with some jumproping and burpee conditioning.

Hoping to fight in March, but that depends on how training goes.

    Tuesday AM

    Morning weight: 172

    Full stretch
    Max pullups: 14
    1 rd shadowbox
    5 rd heavybag
    3 rd burpees/shadowbox (11/10,11/10,11/11)

Used my mouthguard during the first 3 rounds of the heavybag. Felt the exact same as I did last time I sparred and got ****ed up. Makes me feel good knowing it's the mouthguard and not head trauma....time to get a better mouthguard though.

Ooooh, guess who got lazy/injured and only remembered his training log because the man who's quote is the namesake of my training log passed away the other day...

Anyhow, my weight is stable, which is nice. Today it was 173 so I'll only need to cut about 5-10lb and I have at least 2-3 months to get it done, so I don't have that pressure on me. My conditioning is terrible though, so I decided to try another approach to training this time: instead of just jumping into it and expecting myself to run every day and box every night, I'm going to be realistic and ease into this stuff. I'm serious about getting back in the ring as soon as possible, but I promised myself last time that I wouldn't do it until I hit a few training goals. I hate the feeling of going out there knowing I could have done more to prepare.

The plan, which is subject to change and bitchassness as always, is as follows:

Roadwork in the morning, conditioning in the evening, one sparring session per week. After a few weeks of this (i.e. when I'm feeling like I'm getting it back and/or get enough $$ to get to the gym), I'll up the intensity and go to sparring 3x/wk.

    Sparring: 1x/wk
    Conditioning:
    --Tabata: 5x/wk
    --Burpee conditioning: 3x/wk
    Roadwork
    --Sprint/interval workouts: 3x/wk
    --Skipping sessions: 2x/wk
    Skillwork: 3-6x/wk

Here's what I want my weekly schedule to look like (AM workout....PM workout):

    M: Sprint workout.....Skillwork/Tabata/Burpees
    T: Skipping session....Skillwork/Tabata
    W: Sprint workout.....Skillwork/Tabata/Burpees
    R: Skipping session....Skillwork/Tabata
    F: Sprint workout......Skillwork/Tabata
    S: Rest...................Sparring/Tabata/Burpees
    S: Off.

Skipping sessions: 15-30min, just focusing on developing jumproping skillz.

Sprint Workouts: Could be hillsprints, track repeats, or just an interval run. 800m-1600m warmup/cooldown.

Skillwork: Bagwork, slip rope, footwork drills, etc. Focusing on tightening my technique and correcting bad habits.

Burpees: 30sec burpees/30 sec shadowbox. Varying round length, rest time, and number of rounds. Occasionally a 50 or 100 burpee time trial.

Tabata: Finisher for my PM workouts. Punchouts, medball slams, sledgehammer swings, whatever. Starting with one cycle and eventually going to 2-4.

Sparring: Only once per week, primarily because I can't spar more than that due to the amount of punches I anticipate taking, but more importantly because I haven't got the cash to go to the gym more than that. Good thing about this is it gives my head a lot of time to recover and I have a whole week to work specifically on what I learned in sparring. Plus it allows me to go all out in my conditioning workouts since I don't have to save my legs for sparring.

My priorities are, in order of importance: Workrate, footwork, and handspeed. Goal is to fight by the end of May.

Still sick. Hacking up green **** when I cough, chest kinda hurts (not pneumonia. Had that **** 4 times, know it when I see it. Besides, got a shot for it so I'm IMMUNE, bitches!!) Head and sinuses are killing me. Weight 170, appetite is surprisingly good, trying to eat as much as possible. Pushing as much water as I can, but it isn't easy. Can barely do a gallon a day.

At this rate I won't be fighting till the end of June, because I can't do **** workout-wise. Every hard step I take jars my sinuses, so running's out. I go out and throw a couple combos on the heavybag and next thing I know I'm hacking my guts out and wheezing. I re-fitted my headgear the other day (been growing my hair) and gave it a little smack on the side of my head and almost KO'd myself lol. (Right eye felt like it was being stabbed from underneath.)

    ****in' AIDS...

Health has improved, weight is between 175-178. Bad news is last week I A.) I moved out of the city and back to my family's home and B.) lost my job. Again. Planning to go get psych evalled this month sometime to see what's wrong with me. I've lost 3 jobs in the past 6 months, mainly because I can't get anywhere on time.

So now I'm broke, terribly out of shape, and 45 minutes from the nearest gym.

I ****ing hate my life right now and am considering giving up boxing until I sort myself out. Not that I haven't already given up boxing (coming up on a year since I last trained at a gym regularly)...it's just that everything I've been doing lately has been for the purpose of getting me financially able to relocate and get back into serious training. Not a month has gone by where I haven't told myself I'd be fighting again in 3 months. I'm thinking that having it over my head all this time and making no progress isn't doing my motivation/confidence any good. Plus it stresses me out and pisses me off.

Anyhow, we'll see what happens. I've had enough.
