Odlanier Solis might've suffered a knee injury somewhere in the going down unconscious process, but the right hand shot to the temple genuinely BSOD'd his system. Once this rare shot that stopped Eddie Chambers connected, Solis clearly wobbled back and shortly fell on a delayed reaction, and it is clear if you watch the replay he had troubles standing on EITHER leg. He could barely push himself up and even the ropes didn't stabilize him - he was still in neurological shock.

I am disappointed because I hoped someone will finally challenge Vitali, but like Jorge Linares, Solis was caught by one of a thousand temple shot you want to avoid like the plague. Odlanier came in prepared, top shape and seemingly took the round up to the ending, but all that came to an early in in this crushing defeat for La Sombra. All credit to Vitali, saw the opportunity, went for it, though clearly didn't believe the effect himself, but it was genuine.

Watch Linares also on jelly legs following the temple shot KD, the fight should've been stopped there. Chambers, also barely hit on the side of the head, was out for several minutes. Someone should find Hoye vs. Hall too. Solis had every intention to continue, beat the count and wanted to fight back, but his neurological system thought otherwise, and unfortunately this kind of knockout is rarely without longer effects.

Heres my take: Solis asnt fought anyone as big or tall as Vitali and he is not used to punches coming at him from a downward angle. The way Solis fights he leans foward from the waist instead of bending his knees making himself open to be hit in the temple or top of his head by a taller figher. He may have hurt his leg on the way down, but it was a punch that sent him down. I give Vitali credit

Also, I think a big factor was the crowd and enviromnent. Solis is not only a reletively young fighter in ring years as a pro, but he hasnt fought in anything close to that kind of arena. His face looked like he was a lost kid in the ring tonight. In hindsight, he should have had another 10 fights before challenging for a title. He bit off more than he could chew and the people around him maybe should have taken it a little slower. Ive been very critical of Atlas for turning down the Klitchko fight, but just maybe it is better to be criticised than for his fighter to end up in the position Solis was tonight.

The temple shot clearly snapped his head.

Vitali is badass as ever. I think he can go on for years if this is the best out there.

Sollis' left leg buckled just after that temple shot and, after a slight delay and minor chicken dance, he went down, injuring his leg in the process.
(I don't expect it was a serious injury. Most of the problem was neurological).

See similar delayed reaction from Tito when caught by a similar shot from Roy at 1:00 of the following:

I was watching the fight on RTL (German broadcaster) and in the post fight interview Solis said exactly that. "He got hit by Vitali and hurt his knee on the way down" (if the interpreter translated it correctly). So he went down from the shot, and not because his knee gave out while stil on his feet. He simply lost control over his legs and you can see in the replay his knee made a nasty bend when he hit the canvas.

All in all an easy night for Vitali... HE WANTS WHO NECKS? :yep

his left foot positioning was awkward that when vitali charged, it lost balance and might broke it in the process. **** happens but still a win for vitali.

It's a good thing Solis was in great shape or he might've stumbled and fallen backwards, possibly twisting something in the process.

    ....?

Solis should have taken those jeans off during his jogging. Ever time I wear jeans when I run its cause Im in trouble.

This could have been one of those nights they have a second heavy weight ready to go in the back room . So the champ can give the crowd a few more rounds .

It does sound good , 39 years old and knocks out first round an undefeated fighter.
    sounds good.

Even though Vitali consistently has the height, reach, weight advantage over his opponents, he still manages to look like ****, and put on what has to be the most consistently boring performance by any heavyweight champion in the sport's history. :patsch
No wonder none of the networks want to pay to televise this crap!

Here's the difference. In that Wlad-Chambers video, Chambers head jolts from the punch and it clearly lands. In that Salgado-Linares video, you can clearly see something landing (and Linares was known to have a suspect chin, Solis wasn't), in that Jones-Tito video, you can clearly see the punch landing flush on the top of the head.

You tell me just how the **** you can see Vitali landing a clean, flush punch there. No ****nig way did he.
