Lucian Bute vs. Brian Magee RBR (w/ Cotto-Mayorga replay; no undercard)

Not even close. Cotto's knockout of Quintana was nice but Quintana easily wilts to pressure and he is no Andrade when it comes to pain threshold. Bute's body KO of Andrade was one of the nicest I've ever seen. Not to mention Bute has put away more people with body shots than anyone in recent memory, dude is a G when it comes to body shots

 

Good fight for both fighter. I think that Bute was overly patient because of the last fight with Brinkley. In this fight, he wasnt methodical, was only trying the homerun, etc. So its ok, he took his time. Bute is more a counter puncher than anything else and he doesnt like to make too much pressure (so it seems anyway).

Not perfect, not a P4P, but pretty good with (we all hope) some world class fight that will tell what he is made of.

 

Fighting a southpaw made him a more cautious. Bute was still awesome, body shots and the uppercut!!!

 

It's mostly due to the numerable downtimes. Event started at 7, final fight started at 11:30.

They showed 3 times the same 10ish minutes video of Bute's training in Miami, which isn't that captivating on its first viewing. (Once before the 1st fight, then twice between undercard bouts)

Then we were treated to 1h15 of nothing before the fight. Cotto-Mayorga fight was onscreen, but instead of the fight's sound they played dance music. Just as the 12th round of Cotto-Mayorga starts, they announce Lucas and Kessler on the ring for no apparent reason. We miss Mayorga falling down, neither Lucas or Kesssler talk, they just go off the ring and we're left with 15 minutes of cotto-mayorga interview onscreen (still playing dance music instead of telecast sound) and then there's a last 15 minutes of nothing happening.

The crowd couldn't have been more out of it just before Lampley started talking.

 

Bute likes to control his fights. He hasn't much experience against southpaws and I think it explains why it took him more rounds to adjust to his opponent.

I was watching the fight in a movie theater and we saw the same videos. I had seen them all during Bute's training. They were not very good...

Almost all the fights finished in a couple of rounds, leaving too much time before Showtime's coverage.

 

Ok I forgive you for Not scoring the close rounds i.e 'sitting on the fence' until the fight was over :hey, Good job anyway I always appreciate your RBR's TBH I dont know how you do it I always struggle to type a few words during a fight.

Dracon is upset because I kicked his gypsy ass last night he posted 4 pages of bute nut sucking, even though I predicted a 3rd KO for Bute in this thread he can't take 1% of Bute 'hating' that i've done.
