Lucian Bute: anyone else just not seeing it?

I mean don't get me wrong, he's a solid fighter, and does well against the opponents he is put in front of, but I can't put him over the likes of Kessler and Froch, and Don't laugh but I think Abraham could beat him if he had a good go at him.

Good bodypuncher, and fairly decent skills, but I really don't see anything that special about the fellow.

Also, why does he looks so damn old, I can't belive he's 2 years younger than Froch, he looks about 10 years older.

 

The guy is quality

 

Yeah, it's all about levels. Bute hasn't faced anyone I'd consider a top tier fighter. Until that happens, the jury is still out.

 

Oh, and Magee should fight Kenny Anderson, winner gets Groves/Degale winner

 

His best win is still over Andrade who almost knocked him out. Fair play to him he took care of business in the rematch but I agree. His level of competition is way below Ward, Froch and even Kessler.

 

It's about levels, but the guy is stopping fighters who are "below" him so in that respect he's doing what people expect him to do to his current level of opposition, so how can we really knock him for that? Where peoples problems lie with him is that inthe eyes of most he is yet to challenge a top 5 guy in his division. Until that happens we can't elevate him in our minds to top world class
He did however have a test of character fight v andrade who is a tough mother****er.
He deserves at the very least some dues

 

he's very fast and he's not boring to watch (although the commentators were going over-the-top with the speedy gonzales references at the end of the first round!)

he seemed to deal with magee without really going for it. i don't think we'll see how good bute really is until they put him in with ward/froch/kessler or even dirrell.

That's a terrible analysis, that because he got hit s6 fighters would beat him. Floyd mayweather got hit by gatti ffs, don't mean a thing. Stop being a lazy **** and say something worth saying

 

What annoys me is when people (mainly on the general) elevate him far too high saying he's the best smw in the world right now etc etc when he is fighting people like magee and jessie brinkley, its complete madness.

 

That really pisses me off & makes me hate Bute moreso. A large portion of his fans are dribbling morons

 

Personally, I believe that Bute is clearly one of the best super middleweights out there right now. Potentially number 2 behind Andre Ward IMO.

But right now his career is a joke. Sure he sells tickets in Canada but his recent opponents have been terrible. A champion in name only right now. And was incredibly lucky against Andrade the first time out.

But hopefully now that Showtime have him signed up a fight with Kessler will be made soon and we can actually see him in a decent fight.

 

He has never really impressed me.I dont get why he is rated no1 at all.Id back Froch,Kess,Ward and Dirrel to beat him fairly easy.
I dont think he is a bad fighter,he is decent but there are better guys in the division.

 

He's gonna cause the top guys issue's no doubts as he present's problems and has power and finds a home for them very impressive body shots but he does have his weaknesses and at times Brian enjoyed success and didn't look outclassed for peroids.

TFFP said in another thread that Bute hardly went through gears to get rid he sorta wore Magee down and i agree. I also think Magee created the downfall as he knew fight was going away from him.

I think he's not best in division but he's clearly a world class fighter who will give the best a real fight.

Just don't think he's amazing...
