Whatever the case, the way that left knee turns looks TERRIBLE on the way down, around 0:48 in that video. That's the knee he immediately grabs once he hits the deck.

The punch looked like it barely clipped the top of his head, not quite in the temple area. I could be wrong, but I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. He got back to his feet, but he was still hobbling and looked like his knee had completely given out.

Until all of this happened, it was actually a pretty exciting first round. I underestimated Solis' speed and ability to land on Klitschko, but he got in some nice shots. It's too bad it ended this way, and I don't see how anyone can say Vitali should be disappointed. He did what he came to do - he had no control over that situation.

One question I do have for anyone that can answer it - is the ref ALLOWED to give a fighter time if he believes there has been an injury (such as a knee injury) after a knockdown like that? Or does the ref have to assume that the fighter is hurt as a result of the punch and immediately rule that he can't continue?

Those aren't the eyes of a fighter who's hurt by a punch.

Again: Solis is a fat little sh*tbag!!! He felt the power and quit, the punch was definatly decievingly hard, look at Vitali's arm as it lands.....Think Solis played on the injury though to save the humilation of an early 2nd or 3rd round KO.

Even if Solis wasn't affected by the punch, it wouldn't have mattered anyway. He would've been broken down eventually since he was not physically fit enough to beat Vitali. You can make an argument that Solis won the round before the fall, but it wasn't like he had Vitali in trouble at any moment. Now if Solis had gone into the fight appearing hungry and in shape and was landing hurtful shots before the injury I would've given him the benefit of the doubt and actually wouldn't mind seeing a rematch.

:lol::lol: Sure, the punch, which stunned Solis, causing him to raise his gloves to his head, lose his balance, and fall had nothing to do with it.:lol::lol:

Solis got caught with a punch to the temple while moving in. He did not see the punch, and that was all she wrote. Vitlai's ring entrance took longer than the fight.

look at the replay, after vitalis punch lands (exactly at the temple), solis is clearly hurt you can see it when he looks down to the ground between his gloves. then he legs become jelly and you can clearly see that he hurt the left knie and then went down. it was a combination of a great counter punch and from the punch coming jelly legs and knee injury

It didn't look like much of a punch, though only Solis can tell us the true effect. i think Vit's reaction after was telling, seemed to be frustrated with Solis going out in such a way. Perhaps he realised the punch wasn't as devasting as some are suggesting.
