Just a couple questions to those who think it was a ''perfect shot''

are you asking the Vitali fans, or just the people who say Vitali caught Solis with a perfect shot

 

1. Late reactions happen all the time. Solis lost his equilibrium and it took a few seconds before he fell to the canvass.

2. Of course I noticed it and heard it too. In fact it sounded like it landed a lot harder than it looked.

3. It wasn't a hard shot but a shot at the wrong place can still screw up a guy's equilibrium.

4. Vitali was pissed because he knew the shot was not a knockout shot, so he thought Solis was just giving up when he decided to stay on the canvass. He didn't realise right away that Solis injured his right knee when he lost his footing.

Vitali wanted to fight. He wanted to please his fans

 

That's how I look at it too. Plus I think that it was also Solis' mental weakness that contributed to his collapse. The punch triggered his worst hidden fears about how the fight would unfold, freaked out his brain and paralysed his body. Hence the outcome.

 

It was not anything like a perfect punch but it did seem to be enough to put Solis down.You clearly see his legs buckle from it.He would not have lasted very long injury or not.He is too fat and just not good enough.

 

Fact is that if Vitali does not throw that punch, Solis does not injure his knee.

 

Right, because a fairy waved a magic wand at the exact same time VK landed a blow to OS's head, snapping it left to right, so that OS leg would fail.

Nothing about how the person with the highest KO percentage in heavyweight history hit a mostly amateur fighter in an area where amateurs can't be hit because of headgear.

Quite simply, OS has never been hit by anyone nearly as tall or as hard a puncher as VK, and OS simply couldn't take the blow.

Sure, the fact that OS allowed himself to become a fat slob didn't help, but again, that's not VK's fault.

 

Good post, and not extreme like those fools passing the lie that the punch caused the knee injury. LOL, these UFC fans are a trip! It's just not stupidity alone. There's something else there causing their insanity. atsch

 

One more time, for those that missed it in the numerous threads I've posted it in:

Solis was hurt from the short right hook temple shot & that's a typical, delayed reaction knockdown type punch. Watch Wladimir vs. Chambers for evidence.

I don't think the punch was enough to keep Solis down though, it wasn't as hard as Wlad's temple punch to Chambers for instance. Solis did appear to injure the right knee on the way to the mat. But, Solis got up on two unsteady legs, not just one, which may have been the effects of the punch.

We'll never know for sure if Solis couldn't continue due to the punch or the knee injury.............I don't expect the truth from Solis or Oner...........and you shouldn't either.

 

How long have you been watching Boxing? You have never seen a delayed reaction to a punch that resulted in a knockdown? Ever see the way Mike Tyson KOed Berbick? He hit Berbick with a shot and he didn't fall until about 5 seconds after it. Good lord man there are hundreds of examples of this.

Solis has no Chin and no Heart. None.

 

Yes, I agree. It's quite possible that Solis would have been able to continue if his right leg didn't twist behind him on the way down.

Bottom line is: No punch, no injury. The leg was injured after the punch, not before. Probably because Solis was trying too hard not to go down.

 

The way I see it, you would have to be a fool to think solis did not have a leg injury.

That being said you would also have to be a fool to think it was not a hard temple shot.

My take is that vitali caught him, solis staggered and as he went down his ligament tore, but I believe the initial shot sent him off balance anyways.

To summarise, just as lewis's punches caused vitali's cut injuries, vitali's punches caused solis's leg injury.

I was really pissed off at the time because it was shaping up to be a very competitive fight and I had solis winning the opening round. But this **** happens in boxing. Solis either was already injured in which case he's an idiot, or he suffered it in the aftermath of vitali's temple shot. Either way vitali won by a legitimate stoppage, it wasn't controversial.
