After watching Vitali go 1-1 in events last night, it got me thinking - which fighters have the best/deepest records of winning events?

Vitali obviously won a hard fought event against Lewis, but last night he came up against a younger, hungrier fighter who just wanted to win the event more. As great as having an event win against a quality fighter like Lewis looks on your resume, that is definitely weekend by such a won sided loss to Solis, who is a very unproven pro.

I'm sure you'll all remember Arthur Abraham winning the event against Dirrel, that's a good name to have on his event resume but it's a bit bare.

Who has the best event record in your eyes, and who are the standout names on it?

How did abraham win the event vs direll? direll was fighting terrific on the outside and was on his way to a clear ud where he just needed to be carefull in the final rounds.
Maybe martinez, glen johnson or marquez are good at winning events, for what it counts.

I think Lewis won the event against Holyfield in the first fight but he lost the event against Mercer and against VITLAY so he's not a contender here.

Frank Bruno won the event against Tyson in their first fight don't forget and he also won the event against Spoon and Lewis too. Bruno may be the top dog in this thread.

Abraham won the event because he was turning the screw and really putting the pressure on Dirrell. He was already deprived a legitimate knock down by baaad officiating and it was just a matter of time before he scored another - but Dirrel took the easy way out and denied the crowd the chance to see the fight reach it's inevitable conclusion. The win was on it's way but AA was DQ'd, losing the fight but winning the event, which is obviously more important.

We could use some more seriously skilled event experts in the official Solis winning the event thread

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=297513

It'd be great to have some more expert input from even more respected members :happy

You have to say that Malignaggi EVT12 Cotto was a great win for him as well

Despite a real lack of controversy, Magic Matthew Hatton won the event against Saul Alvarez, mainly because he is Matt Hatton.

Marquez won the event against Mayweather because of Floyd's disgraceful reneging on the agreed catchweight

Jermain Taylor did well at the Event on the night Pavlik beat him for the MW title.

JT did hurt the hell out of Pav in round 2 and JT after all was looking much more exciting than he had since pre-BHop's, before being KTFO in the corner.

    Maybe JT DrawEvent KP

(cause the fact hardly heard of KP won his first title in such fashion imprinted the Event too)

Sergio Martinez EVT12 Williams back in 09
    Martinez EVT12 Cintron
Martinez EVT8 Cintron on the same night

Martinez has an unblemished event record at the top level and became the first man to win the event twice in the same night during his fight with Cintron

Harrison clearly won the event against Haye & looked good doing it.

The man was paid in full for a single punch over 3 rounds. Impressive & efficient.

Alexander did well against Bradley though not in Audley's league.
