"all the best black guys" actually equates to a single person in Harry Wills, and it wasn't Dempsey's fault that wasn't able to go through. It was Kearns, who didn't want more rioting.

IIRC Tunney was in a similar situation.

The general verdict was that Wills would get stuffed by Dempsey either way.

after the race riots of Johnson era, promoters weren't in a hurry to have their white fighters challenged by Black fighters..

Dempsey and Tunney would have been favored over ANY black fighter in their primes :deal

He's a little overrated because of his exciting offensive brawling style and his fame. however, he could obviously crack and i still think he was a great fighter. he's especially overrated in h2h matchups as many fighters from that long ago are.

    Stick to the Xbox .

Discussing boxing and its history really isnt for you.

Dempsey isnt only one of the greatest heavyweights of all time , he is also an iconic figure whom heavies of all eras respect.

Because he isnt 6 4 and 265 doesnt mean he couldnt fight. The man through more punches against Willard than most heavies today throw in 10 fights.

Great energy , great power , great man.

Really, when did he say that? I'd like a source.

The era was transitional to a large part because of guys like him and Tunney.

I never said he was crap. I simply said he was overrated by most and didnt belong in the top 10 of the great Heavyweights of all time, He had great power and great stamina but his boxing skills lacked. For example i respect Jack Johnson alot because he was a skillfull fighter.
'Because he isnt 6 4 and 265 doesnt mean he couldnt fight' I never made a comment about his size and didnt say he cant fight-he was great fighter and a great champion but not on the level of joe louis, Lewis, Ali ect...
Most people rank him in the top ten greatest of all time and he doesnt deserve to be ranked so highly.
'Discussing boxing and its history really isnt for you' you dont know how much knowledge of boxing I have-if everyone had the same opinion whats the point about having forum, just so we can agrea on everything.
