It will, but after last night I'm no longer as confident about that one as a Chocolatito fan...nor about his overall chances to reign supreme at 108 anymore.

Styles do make fights, but Segura is a bad man - and he stopped Vargas after winning every round. :scaredas:

If Chango was able to consistently gain ground against Gonzalez and catch his attention with big looping shots, what will happen when the stronger and more skilled Aztec Warrior brings the pressure? :think

 

Not so much new flaws. He just hasn't carried up enough strength to lfw to really impose his will. He tried everything to get Vargas' respect and just couldn't. He used outboxing, counterpunching, infighting, and damn near made scrambled eggs out of Vargas' face - but the Mexican golem never gave up the hunt and had the usually unflappable Nicaraguan wunderkind looking a bit freaked out.

Manuel performed above and beyond, so this doesn't necessarily spell doom for Roman against anyone decent at the weight...but it certainly doesn't portent well against an even greater juggernaut like Giovani.

That's exactly how it's playing out in my head since last night:

The more skilled and multi-dimensional boxer just running out of tricks, time and space as the bigger and more physical brute just exhausts him with claustrophobic pressure, unyielding workrate and cold-eyed indestructibility.

Of course, there's that whole other issue that came into play with Margarito vs. Cotto, but here it would be the real deal NQA.

It really is a candidate for FOTY so far...up there with Rios-Acosta and probably just above Lee-McEwan. Reserve a spot for it on your early prohibitive lists, and keep your eyes peeled. Hopefully it turns up, because this is one all real boxing fans should get to see. :good
