With Jack "MIA," Lashley vs. Ott finalizes Titan Fighting Championship 17 card by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Mar 16, 2011 at 9:55 am ET James Jack has apparently left the building. Titan Fighting Championship officials today announced they have lost contact with Jack, and John Ott (8-7) will now take his place in the headlining slot of next week's TFC 17 event. Ott now faces Bobby Lashley (5-1) at the event, which takes place March 25 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., and airs on HDNet. "We had an agreement with Jack to fight Lashley, but he's essentially gone MIA," Titan Fighting CEO Kelly stated in an official release. "James missed several scheduled media shoots and no longer was returning our calls. It became abundantly clear that James had no intention of showing up to fight Bobby on March 25, so we had to make a change." While Ott generally competes in the light heavyweight and middleweight divisions, Kelly insists there will be no issue with him taking a heavyweight bout. "John might be a little heavy for the fight, but the extra weight he is carrying is all muscle," Kelly stated. "From a pure strength standpoint, he will be able to go in and compete with Bobby. His strong amateur wrestling credentials will also potentially allow him to neutralize Bobby's takedowns and force the fight to stay on the feet." With the change, the full televised card for Titan Fighting Championship 17 now includes: Bobby Lashley vs. John Ott Abe Wagner vs. Aaron Rosa Phil Baroni vs. Nick Nolte Willian De Souza vs. Eric Marriott Aaron Derrow vs. Alonzo Martinez James Krause vs. Nathan Schut Anthony Guiterrez vs. Jon Hollis Got alot of time for Bobby. But his careers going nowhere. And at his age he either needs to get some traction in his career or go back to pro wrestling. A light heavyweight/middleweight? C'mon Bobby....
After losing to Chad Griggs his next career move is to take eight months off and fight a guy who competes at around 185-205? It's just as well he has that pro-wrestling money and his own gym to fall back on, because as you say, he isn't going anywhere in MMA. He's 34 years old and coming off an embarrassing loss that cost him his hype and credibility. He needs to either get serious or quit. Pity, because I was actually hoping he'd amount to something. :-(
Il give it to Chad he's a great TV fighter who's exciting to watch. But this is 20 steps backwards. If Lashley want's a future in MMA why is he fighting a middleweight?!?!?!
I don't think the people who took over in TNA ever saw that much in him...very much a Jarratt project.
I didn't give Bobby much in Pro Wrestling either. His mic skills are horrendous. Griggs derailed that train and it looks like it is headed to the bone yard.
Bobby's weak as hell. Apart from looking the part his mike skills were atrocious and his wrestling non-existent. He just fitted the model that Vince loves. Im still a fan of his though. He's a good humble guy with great physical potential.
He's 34, a smaller, less good version of Brock who's been exposed and completely lost any hype that he had...I'm still sort of interested in watchng him fight though:think
