Two fights demonstrate this gap clearly.

    Casey vs Rigondeaux

    Bute vs Magee.

Magee gave more of an effort but took a beating and got stopped when Bute decided to stop him.

There is a huge gap today between european level and world level.

Khan vs McCloskey will further highlight this gap.

Yet this argument can also be made redundant with a case like Burns-Martrinez. Most would have thought burns wasn't even european level before the fight but he deservedly won. It's a case of the division and the particular fighter you're challenging. You're 2 examples are against great fighters but there are many fairly average 'world' champions. For example, I reckon both macklin and barker would beat sylvester

This could potentially be an interesting thread what is the overall strength of the Euro belt and all things considere what is the true gap between Euro and world level?

How would an Asia, Africa, South America, North America belt do in comparison p4p. i would generally say that the Euro would be second only to North America in strength in depth though at some levels especially the lower weights it probably drops off in competetiveness

Massive. For reasons I've already mentioned before. British level = Euro level in many divisions. Half of the best Europeans don't even fight for the European title.

In theory the gap should be smaller, as the elite fighters of yester year, are few and far between these days, I mean look at someone like Martinez, and look at someone like Nunn, or James Toney.

    World > European > British > Commonwealth

I care more about the British title than the European personally though.

i feel as if the imtercontinel titles have taken over from the euro titles because you can get world rank in that body by fihting for one of those titles

Yep, meaning you can get into a position to fight for a world title without beating anyone of note. Kell Brook says hi. :hi:

The cruiserweight champ is probably closest to world level in that list but only because that division is pretty ****
