Obviously I am taking part. Don't have to agree with you to be a part of it. But if that's what you consider schooled, well, then back to school with you. BTW...did you see that EVENT on ESPN 2? HUGE event!!!
Care to explain what constitutes an 'Event'? Seems any fight qualifies, which therefore greatly dilutes any significance of an actual event. For the record, I'm not arguing they take place. Just silly tyo label ANYTHING as one. This was a rather insignificant fight before it happened, and that includes the 2+ minutes of the so called 'event'.
I admire your great Boxing knowledge, passion for the sport and high post count, however the Main Event Mafia really do feel that Boxing needs to be viewed as an event as well as a fight. It is very enlightening and quite a refreshing view to take. Perhaps for the next fight you are able to watch live, you could also view it as an event and determine who won the event as well as the fight? :thumbsup
Sorry - not seen that yet. Here at Main Event HQ we have stacks of tapes to review, it is a very long and tedious process, but one that is ultimately rewarding, especially when witnessing something like Solis' EVT1 win on Saturday. As busy as we are, rest assured that we will review this event before passing judgment. Please bear with us
No apology necessary, was kinda playing around for the most part. Will hold further judgment till later. :thumbsup
Unfortunately not, I live in England several thousand miles away & do not receive the same television signal. I cannot comment.
Agreed :good(even with the sarcastic comment about knowledge. It's all good! ). I would be more thren happy to engage if the fight lasted more then a couple minutes. At least w/ the Lewis vs. Vitali fight, that went half the alloted rounds. Less then one riound is just too little. Event NC. :hey
Any boxing match can be an event however not every Boxing match will result in an event win. Only Boxing matches will be added to the Eventrec thread where we track event wins and losses I also do not receive ESPN 2. What is this particular event which you speak of?
There are plenty of EVT1's throughout boxing history, an example being Golota EVT1 Lewis. The length of the fight has no bearing in the quality of the event victory.
Event's hold significance. Not just any HW fight you guys decide works. Like I said, when you call anything an event, it waters down what a real event. You'd think this Main Even HQ would know the difference. :deal
Not just anything qualifies as an event, this is clearly defined by the Event Briefing note posted in this very forum. However, the event in question (Solis EVT1 Vitali) is clearly an EVT - observers have described seeig blood trickling from Vitali ears as he left the ring, clearly caused by the unprecedented volume of boos from the German crowd. Also, the cameras clearly show the same crowd congratulating Solis by throwing him beers and other drinks as he left the ring. Great EVT win
