i have no idea if its good advice for pros, how many pros does he teach what have they accomplished? these are things i dont know so im not really qualified to say if its good for pros or not. the guy did win the golden gloves 3 times so i can for sure say its good advice for amatures. though with winning the golden gloves 3 times its strange that he didnt go pro or try for the olympics. unless he did go pro http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=39657&cat=boxer in which case some guy that won 1 match lost 2 and gave up on pro boxing in a matter of 6 months probly wont be giving the best advice to other pro boxers. sorry it seems he was an assistant trainer at 3 golden gloves tourneys and coached many golden glove champions winning it himself once. with the coaching record even more reason for it to be good advice for amateurs...though still no reason for me to make claims like its good advice for pros.
I think its a very decent video to educate anyone really. Pro or amateur, the principals are the same, but a few extra factors affect both am and pro, so who's to say? Absorb what is useful, discard what is not, for each person's situation.
as long as your boxing your going to be following the principals of boxing. the technique and skills are the same yes, traing for 3 min rounds compared to 2 min rounds not so much the same, training for 4+ rounds also not so much the same. whos to say? his students that have won pro titles.....that's why i dont make any claims to if its good advice for pros, only that its defiantly good advice for amateurs. absorb what is useful discard what is not and add what is uniquely your own...though only after you understand why what is useful, is useful and what is not, is not can you add what is your own or apply it to your situation.
im not sure if i getting this right but your saying the principals of all sports are the same? like the principals behind being a fast sprinter is the same as the principals behind what makes a fast marathon runner? im just saying that untill usian bolt starts winning marathons all i can say about his trainnig advice it that it will help you with sprinting.
Your coach is correct. Weights do not work in boxing countless examples of they not working. Jeff Lacy, Tyson post prison etc. etc. etc. Do not lift weights and enjoy being fast.
jeff lacy in his own words has said he hasn't lifted weights since 16, ripped physique does not mean weight lifting.
Hey Ylemmy is back, I thought you took your bottle and went home? When are you releasing your book "the bible of slow twitch training for boxing speed and power'? You're an idiot that we all would be wise to ignore.
You do know that most top endurance athletes have seen the research and now incorporate strength training with weights into their schedules?
SO much misinformation and bull**** about these things I just can't counter it all. Does this have anything to do with what we were talking about, or the video? It seems pretty random!
Ylem is the king of random/going off on a tangent. This is just mild Ylem randomness, you ain't seen nothing yet.
mis information? what misinformation? all ive said is that the video definitely is good for amateurs. and i was asking if what you said was that all sports are created equal as far as training goes....like if you were to ask usian bolt for training advice on running a marathon would he give you good advice? my personal opinion is that what is good for one sport doesnt mean thats its good for every other sport, wrong or right thats just my personal opnion and because of that im not going to claim that someone whos good at one sport is going to be able to give the best advice for training for another sport or even the same sport modified.
