It was clear from the snappy comments between the two that there is some kind of animosity between them. Maybe Bernard took exception to some criticism from Dowling and bit back? It was clear to see that they did not like each other, during the hiding given to Casey by Rigondeaux.

I think Mick Dowling can be condescending and dismissive of his co-panelists. I heard a rumour than Andy Lee isn't a big fan of Dowling either.

Despite this, I like Dowling. He doesn't lick all the Irish boxer's arses and criticises where he feels necessary. I didn't see the broadcast at the weekend though but I'll watch it later.

Dowling always comes across as condescinding in my opinion but I didnt see Saturdays show yet. Darragh Moloneys a shitebag too. Doesnt have a clue about boxing.
Dunne " McDonagh uses the peekaboo style "
Moloney " Peekaboo style? did you just make that one up "

Mick Dowling is a bit of a dickhead alright. He gave me a grilling over what kind of handwraps I was buying from his shop one time. Then he refused to sell me the one's I wanted. ****ing mentalist. He thinks he knows better than everyone so much so to the point where he lost a sale (I needed more than the wraps) because he wouldn't sell me what I wanted, he'd only sell me what he thought I should have.

Moloney made me cringe when he said that to Dunne. I wished Dunne had just turned around and told him the classic "you know nothing about boxing".

That would have been classic but it's never going to happen as Dunne is paid by RTE.

The only time I've ever heard anything like that in sport was when Ronnie O'Sullivan was talking about getting a new cue and he said John Parris was in the process of making him one.

Some twat in the front of the press row says 'Why is John Parrott making you a cue?'

O'Sullivan said 'you don't have a clue about snooker at all do you, you're an idiot'

Maybe all of them are a bit pissed off that there will be **** all boxing on RTE until maybe next years Nationals and Olympics games. That extra bit of cash they are used to getting is no longer there so there will always be a bit of bitterness. Who knows maybe Dunne will need to lace them up again.............

I don't notice really because all I can focus on is how much I can't stand Jim Rock. Credit where credits due though, that Maloney quote was epic.

I remember when i was younger after a broadcast was finished i went up to the booth in the national stadium and ask Jim Rock for a picture and to sign my program which he did very nicely and as i looked over at Dowling he had to most put out look on his face that someone could resist the opperetunity to get a picture with him

Ha ha It's just funny because I have nothgin against Darragh Maloney but I could actually see Dunne replacing him as the host a la Garry Lineker style in a few years. Dunne has the personality to be a presenter as does Willey Casey. Maloney should be careful.

Maloney presents a lot of shows, not just the boxing. He is no boxing fan and doesn't even know who Nonito Donaire is or even Cus D'amato. He would be the first to admit that he is merely a presenter and not a boxing historian.

its still his job though isnt it?

Surely he must have some knowledge?

I couldnt imagine a Tv football anchor saying somthing like

"he plays sometimes as a sweeper"
"sweeper? did you just make that up"

...although at thr RTE old boys club i wouldnt put it past them!
