I strongly agree with Andrade EVTing Bute. Perhaps you would be interested in joining the Eventrec thread as you seem to have sound knowledge of historical EVT wins?

Holyfield has a very interesting event record over many years.

It is certainly worth analysis & may generate its own thread.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned that EVT ATG Glen Johnson.

Glen Johnson's defeat of Roy Jones Jr. is an all-time classic.

Consider this piece of EVT genius from Glen:

Roy Jones Jr., the favorite son of boxing fans, is still quivering in the center of the ring at the Fed Ex Forum in Memphis on September 25, 2004. Over him stands a man most people in the crowd had never heard of before that fight, the sweaty, snarling Glen Johnson.

Roy Jones Jr. — who isn't accustomed to losing — had brought his 12-year-old twin sons. The general rule in boxing is to keep the kids at home. On the off chance something tragic happens, nobody wants a child to see his or her father die in the ring. Johnson says he never takes his kids to watch him fight.

And as Johnson exits the ring that night, he spots Jones' sons, both crying, stunned by the image of their unconscious father. Johnson pauses in front of them, the blood of the fallen champion still on his gloves. The kids look terrified. "Your father did this to a lot of guys, and they're all all right," Johnson says in his deep, gentle voice. "He's going to be OK too."

    The children stop crying.

It's the type of thing that earned Johnson the moniker "The Gentleman."

    1. duran (leonard I & II, hagler, hearns, barkley, camacho)
    2. holyfield (bowe I & II, tyson I, lewis II, ruiz III, valuev)
    3. young (ali, foreman, norton, shavers II)
    4. whitaker (ramirez, chavez, de la hoya)
    5. de la hoya (trinidad, mosley II, mayweather)

some bad losses for holyfield (foreman, holmes, tyson II, lewis I) prevent him from taking first place. hopkins has so many second and third tier event wins, but this list is about quality!

Duran is arguably the EVTGOAT, some great wins in his career.

Archie Moore has a fairly unique record of EVT wins over Marciano & Ali.

How could we forget Baldomir EVT12 Mayweather? Baldomir 12 event left the p4p number one in tears. How many people can say that?

Its a contentious EVT either way. I think the jury is still out on that one.

Their 1st encounter was much more clear cut.

I dont know where I stand on this one.

The argument goes that SRL turned up and tried to clown Duran. Instead of fighting he played to the crowd, acted up, tried to make Duran look stupid - all to win the fight AND event. However, Duran was wise to Leonards tactics and infamously said 'no more', completely robbing Leonard of the chance of getting a meaningful revenge for the first fight and shockingly claiming the event for himself.

Meldrick Taylor undoubtedly won the event against Julio Cesar Chavez (1st fight).

moore did not fight louis. and i'm not sure his bouts with marciano and ali constitute event wins either. if anything, ali's prediction that he'd down moore in four may give him the event win.

very nice summary - this is my view entirely.
