Mayweather keeps winning. He is a defensive master, has amazing stamina and focus, brilliant speed, a great undefeated record with solid opponents...a consistent winner. In terms of how to make money and success from boxing...he is one of the best ever. In a head-2 head or historic perspective he is one of the best of this amazing (and frustrating) sport. He is also to me...a problem. So....what's the problem? He is going to be compared to the best of this sport. Amongst the boxers who went for the glory fights, who went into the ring and fought with skill AND passion. Boxers who took risks to entertain the fans in the ring. Boxers who would impose their will on their opponent and risk taking shots to give shots. Boxers that threw an arsenal of punches and combinations and who's popularity and characters made this sport grow. Mayweather potshots, he sets up the big name fights when his opponent is either old or outsized. He VERY RARELY goes for the fights the fans want to see. Just watch a highlight reel. One, two defend. One, two defend. His one dimension is enough to beat nearly anyone head to head, but why should I rate that as better than guys that open up, take risks and give us fans what we really want to see...the drama, intensity and excitement of a boxing match. But...I am a hater. Someone who is just angry at his success and 'can't appreciate the sweet science.' He is pricing himself out of the fight nearly every fan wants to see...
Can I be blunt. It's a similar question to: "What is the matter with David Haye" "What is the matter with Chad Onchocinco" "What is the matter with Terrell Owens" "What was the matter with Ali" "What was the matter with Jack Johnson" He's a loud, black guy, who is scarily dominant - which America has never really liked
What is the matter with Julius Peppers? What is the matter with Randy Moss? You know, they're loud, black, confident, and win a lot. So people come up with conspiracy theories.
I have written a detailed psychological analysis of exactly what is wrong with Floyd: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=270444
What I'm saying is, if Mayweather shut his yap, and spent his time telling us all how much he loves America, loves god, and knows his place in society..............I bet he'd be an American hero. I'll say it again - America has always expected black athletes to keep their yaps shut They don't like being made to feel, well, second rate?
Please stop with the whole race crap. It's been done, it's over. The problem with Mayweather is simply that he doesn't like fighting. Watch Pacquiao, Jean Pascal, Shane Mosley, David Lemieux, they enjoy fighting. It doesn't mean that they're better, in fact it means that they're more likely to get in trouble, but they love it. Where as Floyd was just born into it.
You can file it under: "why fat white american guys, enjoy mocking ripped, millionaire black guys, who have more sex than them". You know, didn't we have all this with Jack Johnson already? Why was he actually hated? Other than winning too much, and making white guys feel bad about their race
U say the bolded part from a fan perspective. Im sure if you were a fighter, and had the ability, reflexes, instincts, footwork, skills, etc. to hit ur opponent and not get hit, you would do exactly the same. That is part of being a great fighter IMO, and doesn't mean he has less heart than another fighter who is willing to mix it up. You ever think that possibly many fighters resort to having to take some punches to land some, simply becuase they dont have the skill to avoid getting hit? Just because his style of fighting does not suit you does not make him any less of a great fighter.
It's 100% true. Can you explain why the same fans, truly, viciously hate David Haye and Floyd Mayweather? Is it the fact they're both British? Oh that's not it........ Could they be both the same height? Oh that's not it......... Is it because they're both loud black guys? Oh, probably
It's because they're bitches. Haye less so nowadays because he's apparently fighting Wlad, and he can be exciting to watch. Why do you think America likes Manny Pacquiao? Is it because he's Filipino?
Please show me, what I have said in this thread, that shows this is what I think . . . I won't, hold, my breathe
