just watched Bute v Magee for the first time

I don't think you really believe he looked mediocre. You're only trying to stir the pot.

 

Bute, like hattom before him, has always looked mediocre, and I think I have finally figured out way.

OK, after following his career and watching him fight, I've come to the conclusion that A.A. is mediocre. We just haven't realized it because like Kessler, he has been hidden away from fighting the best fighters.

A.A. make a lot of money fighting and knocking out those bums. His toughest fight was miranda, and that says alot about A.A.'s true potential in the sport.
I fully expect A.A. to retire or simply disappear from televised coverage in the near future. It will become clear that he lacks the tools to compete and beat the best in the SMW division.

 

his ko power is not mediocre, he is a knock out artist but with his size he gets schooled at 168, I guess he would be a good contender with guys his own size at 160.

 

It wasn't Bute's shiniest performance, but that's largely because of the game and gritty challenge put up by a tough and awkward fellow lefty.

 

Did you watch Ward fight Bika?

That was not his best win but to say mediocre. It was his third time against a southpaw, that explains why it took him more time than usual to adjust.

 

Bika put up a hell of a fight. I'm still wondering how the 120-108 card ever came to be..

Props to Ward for beating a very game Bika.

 

Ward didn't look too hot against Bika either. Sometimes you just have a tough guy in there who won't go away. Truthfully, fighter like those two are the life blood fueling the game, making our champs that much better and rougher, having gotten through their trial by fire experience.

 

The only person who's ever looked good against Bika was Codrington...and only for a few rounds, and only because he fought about the dumbest fight you can against Bika (and paid for it).

I've seen many fights back before the Kessler bout, what Ward can do with his skills. He has solid skills but his greatest asset is his natural ring smarts in almost any given situation. A mini Hopkins in the making...

But, truth is that his last 2 performances weren't impressive at all, especially his last one. Right now, ironically, Ward is mostly immuned to criticism on this board, in regards to his recent performances..

Bute's last 2 performances, although not his greatest at all, can favorably compare with Ward's last 2.

 

Why should Bute have stopped magee within three rounds? It took Froch 11 rounds in a very competitive fight. I dont think theres a super middle out there who'd stop magee inside three rounds. Magee's a tough, awkard, decent skilled boxer. He might get outworked and stopped late at world class level, but hes by no means an easy nights work for any boxer at super middle.

 

Means nothing. Different fighters offer different fighters different problems. I'm certain Ward would eviscerate Magee, with no issues.
