Leonard would knock Norris out. Norris sucks.

Also, both opinions above are on opposite (and equally wrong) extreme ends of the spectrum.

In his prime of course Leonard has a chance to beat Norris: a very good one, in fact.

It might even be by knockout, but not because Norris sucks (he doesn't).

Let me rephrase. There is a small but vocal minority who vastly overrate Norris based more on style than substance. He is a prime example of how matchmaking can make a fighter look unbeatable (Roy Jones anyone). There is absolutely nothing even close on his record to show he is even in a prime SRL's class much less that he could beat him. And for the record Im not one of those people who thinks SRL was the greatest thing either. I agree that he was hyped etc but he also showed that he could step up and prove himself. It usually took Norris a couple of tries when he stepped up (and he only stepped up on very rare occasions).

I'm not an over the moon "Norris beats anyone on a good night" type, but it's clear from watching him perform even against frankly often overmatched opposition that he was quite skilled - certainly enough to offset his vulnerability and enjoy some success. I'd make a strapping SRL a big favorite, but would count Norris as among his very good wins (not very best, but second tier) and not dismiss it as a pushover.

agreed. i love norris, for style AND substance :D he had his flaws but i think his masterclass against a very game simon brown in the second fight, after the disasterous first fight, proved he could adapt and was made of sterner stuff than is often portrayed

Could Leonard beat a prime Norris? I would favour him to do so and by stoppage. Norris' punch resistance was almost non-existant at times, and Leonard was simply too fast and too good not to land at regular junctures in a 12 round fight. It could even end early, depending on how cautious or focused Norris would be on the night.

I'd be interested to hear why the TS doesn't think Leonard "could" beat Norris when the likes of Troy Waters almost pulled it off.

  9. B/C Norris has a lot of ,
    Power,
    and speed combination .
In addition to his creative angles ,
    and skillz ,
he does give Leonard 1 helluva time ,
and does defeat him by 1 decision .
Troywaters is of different class of leonard ,
1 triangle theory does not prove anything .:deal

Heluva time, OK. We still haven't hammered down why Leonard couldn't (or cudn't) beat Norris.

  13. ? i did not understand

I do think Leonard wud have ,
trouble taking on Norris's greatest shots .
The exchanges , wud be awfully close , imo .
    w/ norris having 1 edge w/ the power .
as i have said b4 , times have changed ,and norris did evolve from 1 fighter like leonard .
    y do u feel 1 need,
to make fun of my spelling/grammar.
    i do not appreciate ,
    it . we r here 4 boxing ,
not english class, or in esponel,
    ingles.:hey

    1) i don't feel like norris or the times did evolve from leonard personally

    2) your syntax and grammar is amazing, it would take a LOT of effort for me to write with your unique "style". it's virtually unreadable but good on ya

Cooper, it sounds like you think it's beyond Leonard's capabilities to beat Norris. You don't really think this? There must be a breakdown in communication...which would be understandable given the nature of your posts.
