for me, it is holyfield. after that i'd say bruno and vitali - holyfield was past it as well. bruno, you can have him.

well sanders vacated his wbo belt, but the ring and wbc got unified. - oh, the mighty Ring title too

no, don't word it like that. i'm saying that at the time vitali beat sanders, it meant more than it would have done to have beaten a 39 year old lewis who was shot. - thats a load of ****

same with lewis, he'd have been better, if he had stayed on, to fight the younger brother rather than rematch the elder brother - perhaps

Because he had quit once before, or because he knew that once the fight is stopped that is it, so you can say anything but you know you not going back to fighting, who knows? The thruth is that he was clinching and holding for dear life, that is something you or any K fan can't erase, like I said he was lucky the fight was stopped, that extended his career.

The only fighter between lewis and Vitali who ever quite in a match was Vitali, and to suggest that Lewis was on the verge of quiting with absolutely no proof is insulting to him and a ridiculous line of thinking because it can't be backed up with one shred of evidence. I could just as easily say that since Vitali quite against Byrd he would also quite against Lewis, but that would be just as wrong.

    Silly thread.

Rounds 5 & 6 were great rounds for Lewis, with an exhausted VK clinging on for dear life.

The event loss still haunts Lennox to this day. Vitali was contented with his event victory until Solis topped it with a one round event win

I posted my whole argument in the opening post. I don't see what's flawed with it?

Again another mistaken poster. Lewis (the darker skinned man) was holding on for dear life not Vitali.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind Lewis would have dominated and Ko'd Vitali had he been in shape.

Holyfield was his main rival during the 90's. He has quite a deep resume so take your pick who you prefer.

Yeah vitali vs sanders was the consensus top two fighting it out. I don't get why you'd have preferred him to battle it out again with a man clearly on the decline when he had prime opposition such as sanders, byrd and rahman to take on instead. It's a lose lose for vitali. He wins and he beats a shot legend at the wrong end of his career. He loses again and he's seen as a hype job.

That's cause the white guy appears to be dead in this picture, and Lewis is merely keeping his body upright.

Lewis was struggling in the fight and resorted to dirty tactics to open up a cut. When you have a guy by the neck, and dirty fight, it's designed to tear flesh. It should have got him DQ'd never mind anything else. He didn't want any rematch, coward. I lost all respect for Lewis after this fight.

No! In Lennox, Vitali would've been rematching the undisputed heavyweight champion! This is the goal, no matter what.
Are we ****ing serious to debate Lennox or Sanders as the better route? C'mon man!

It's just a picture, Lewis is obviously trying to headbutt Klitschko and Klitschko is holding Lewis's head whole simultaneously leaning back to avoid another headbutt.
