The Klits: It's a cultural thing.

You're right. I read an article about the ''globalization of Hollywood'' in The Economist a few weeks ago.

I don't like football, I am not a Haye fan, the Klits are boring, but so are loads of American boxers, so are loads of British boxers...

 

To be honest. It isn't a cultural thing, at its most primal it is a race based thing.

What an absurd generalization of American tastes versus the rest of the Western world where Europe is apparently a single entity. The TS couldn't "go into 10 pages about each country in europe" because he hasn't a ****ing clue about life outside his 'hood and American pop culture.

 

A lot of americans just dont like anything out of any part of europe, for some reason they just cant stand europeans

 

It seems that a lot of Americans consider the Klitschkos boring. But I have to wonder which current American heavyweight is more exciting than them?

Thompson?
Arreola?


Obviously this sport would be REALLY exciting if every heavyweight boxer was like Tyson. Of course I wish that Vitali or Wlad would knock people out as Mike did in his prime. But the sad truth is, a boxer like Tyson is a rare exception.

From a certain point of view Tyson ruined it. His exciting way of boxing is the gold standard now and he is the measure for todays fighters. But such expectations are simply unrealistic. Still people demand it. Hell, even Lennox Lewis was considered boring back in the day.

But I also believe that an Emmanel-Steward-refined Lewis would win at least 7 out of 10 fights against a prime Tyson.

Usually ugly effectiness trumps flashiness. Or as Vitali said once: My style doesnt look impressive but it's very effective.

The same with soccer: A couple of years ago the Greek became European champions through an ugly defensive playing style. In the 70's, 80's, 90's the German national soccer team played a very ugly style of soccer but they usually won. Same goes for the Italians and their whole soccer culture. I am actually relieved that nowadays the German team is succesfully playing an attractive way of soccer, and that Barcelona with their style of playing is considered the most effective AND attractive soccer team in the world.


I guess most of you guys concure with me that Tyson-Holyfield 1 & Lewis-Klitschko were good fight with decent entertainment value.

I had a friend over yesterday who usually doesn't watch boxing and I tried to show him Tyson-Holyfield 1. He was bored beyond belief after 10 seconds or so, so I switched to Lewis-Klitschko. But that was even worse for him. I guess because there were no roundhouse kicks and **** didnt blew up or whatever.

 

You guys are the ones that like Jerry Friggin Lewis!!!

Why don't you man up and say what you mean and be done with it!?

Why don't you just say that all Europeans are superior to all US folk in every conceivable way? That's what you wanna' say, right?
