The panel when they first started with Steve Collins I liked a lot. Should of got Steve back in instead of Jim Rock. He was a boxing icon along with McCullough who the likes of Dunne , Lee and many more Irish fighters looked up to and respected and he new his stuff. I cant beleive that no one has taken a chance on Steve Collins.

Collins was off due to his incident where he gave a bouncer a hiding when he was not allowed into the VIP section.

However, he was cleared in court and it was shown that the Latvian bouncer was aggressive and heavy handed.

Yeah we all know about that it was a shame that RTE didnt back Collins back then instead of getting rid of him.

Dowling knows his stuff about amateurs, but he doesn't have a bean about the pros. He doesn't even seem to like pro boxing, so I don't know why they have him on.

Exactly, it's a vital part of every RTE sports broadcast to have a wind up merchant on the panel. Dunphy does the football, Hook does the rugby and Dowling on the boxing.
