WBC confirms result: Tko due to an injury without Vitali's intervention

Thanks for posting that, Brock was doing about as good as anyone has against Wlad (who hasn't beaten him). Game effort by the boxer who has by now returned to being a banker.

As for Solis, disagree with WBC - sure it's a TKO but Odlander wasn't alone in that ring when he fell over. The injury and stoppage happened because of things Vitali was doing, Vit didn't foul, so it's a legit, regular TKO. Like doylexx said, the guy chose or felt coerced not to continue.

 

Is there always evidence of concussion, especially if it didn't take much to make his legs go? I'm not convinved.

If he had half a fight and was stopped on an accumulation of punches then yes, I would guess that it would show up (based on my very rudimentary medical knowledge). But if it just took one punch to upset his equilibrium, resulting in the damaged knee and stopped fight, then I would not be at all suprised for there to be a non-detectable level of concussion.

The way Solis' legs move after being caught by the punch, and the way his balance appears to be affected, it just looks a lot more like someone who is suffering the effects of a punch than someone has damaged a knee.

 

They were saying that VK didn't do anything like have an accidental head butt or low blow. Punches are always permitted in boxing and the legal punch to the head cannot be the cause of a no contest. That's really all this means.

They're not saying he wasn't wobbled by the punch or even that he wouldn't have fallen down.

The punch caused Solis to fall down and in falling down (or trying to get up) he injured himself too seriously to continue. I think he would have easily been able to continue but for the knee injury. But TKO is absolutely the correct call. I also think the next solid punch to the top of the head would have also hurt Solis, but we'll never know because he'll never get to fight Vitali again probably.

 

what I was getting at was some said it should be a NC...... brock was KD he got up before the count and the ref decided Brock can't continue... except for the punch... same was with solis.... he was KD, got up before the count and the ref decided he couldnt continue.... TKO both ways... how is solis a different story.... the ref was looking right in solis eyes when he waved it off.... not from the leg, it was the eyes

You're reading it wrong. What they mean is that the fight was stopped due to an injury & it's a TKO win rather than a NC or Technical Draw because the injury wasn't caused by a headbutt, etc.

That's all they mean by it. They aren't saying that it wasn't a legit knockdown.

You can't re-write history to suit what you'd like the result to be. It's a TKO win, Vitali knocked him down & he hurt his leg and couldn't continue. TKO

 

Exactly. It doesn't matter if it was because of the punch, the leg, or fear.
