Could Anyone Stand And Trade With a Peak Tyson from 1986-88

Well, speed and technique are two of the most important attributes for generating power. Raw strength is not quite as significant, hence why scrawny guys like Foster and Hearns could hit so hard. Tyson had power because he had very fast hands and maximised his body leverage with excellent combination punching technique.

 

Louis is a superb infighter, his uppercuts and hooks are even better than Tyson. Louis never had problems with guys that came to him, in fact those were the ones he beat the easiest. Louis had problems with the slick movers like Walcott and Conn, who exposed his slightly plodding footwork. I don't see any fighter coming off best in a combination punching contest with Joe Louis.

 

So Mitch Green can go the distance, but Joe Louis gets hospitalized? Please. Don't forget, Louis is the deadliest combination puncher in the history of boxing, Tyson himself is going to have to be very careful not to get separated from his senses within the first few rounds.

Tyson was finished by Buster Douglas and Evander Holyfield, neither of which came any where near the speed and power of Louis from Schmeling II.

 

No, he ****ing wasn't. To believe he was is as stupid as thinking that Fitzsimmons could him give a hell of a fight.

 

Foreman and Liston would be confident of mine stand, trade, and win with prime Tyson.

Dempsey, Frazier, and Marciano would have a good chance, the main issue for Joe and Rocky is that they were both slow starters and obviously Tyson came out swinging for the fences.

But not saying who'd come out on top of such an exchange between them and Tyson.

Anyways, no body's going to come out and 'stand and trade' with Tyson; nor is Tyson going to stand and trade with any great slugger. because if either guy did come out to stand and trade, the other guy would try to do something better than just stand and trade.

However, this thread might determine who'd come out on top if they met as characters in a 'Rocky'-movie.:think

 

Um...Joe Louis would stand right in front of Mike and get blasted out. Mitch Green ran and held. That's the only reason he survived going the distance.

Tyson wasn't prime anymore. After Kevin Rooney left, Mike wasn't the same. You can't take the unfocused, lazy Tyson who fought Douglas and Holyfield and say that they finished him. They weren't fighting a peak Tyson.

 

I probably misread you earlier... I thought you meant he was finished (as in washed up) by the time he met Douglas.

 

Frazier would indeed sign for the fight. He'd sign the contract with his own blood. Oh what steely balls Frazier has.

 

Prime Tua , McCall and Foreman of course. Rahman and Ibeabuchi too. Maybe even Holyfield , Bowe and James Toney. IF Toney could avoid Tyson's missed hooks which were by far his best shots then he may have punished him for his efforts .
