Dwyer: I'd take Degale over Bute, Dirrell and Kessler

Smith rarely had trouble timing Degale or getting the odd shot in. Now Froch, who's better than Smith in every single way, is he going to struggle to land on Degale?

No: he'll get to the body early, he'll time the overhand right throughout the middle rounds and will eventually beat Degale to pieces.

But let's consider the guys who'll be top dogs at 168/175 in the next five years. Do you see him beating Ward, Cloud or Dawson?

 

I'd suggest Paul Smith had quite a few problems finding DeGale. That's why he was so heavily outclassed, not only was he shipping quite a few he wasn't doing anything of note himself.

This is boxing, nobody never gets hit in a fight. Even against lesser fighters. If they have arms they're gonna touch you. This ain't no Willie Pep winning a round without throwing a punch ****.

 

Beating Paup Snith doesn't put you up there with the world's best

I'd be wary about putting him in with Magee after Groves. (Providing he beats George).

 

I pick Froch over DeGale, follow the thread df. Even though Smithy had some success he was totally outclassed.

Ward - no, he's the top dog.
Cloud and Dawson - if DeGale continues to improve at his current rate I see no reason why he can't beat those guys at 168 within a year or 2 but will they be willing to move down?

 

Why does anyone give a **** what this Dwyer **** says? I've seen his vids posted on ESB many times and 90% of the time the **** is wrong!

Seems to me he is just the only ****er that takes the time to set up a camera to post predictions rather than just type them like the rest of us!

 

Anyone who scored the Dirrell fight for Froch, seemingly doesn't score punches that actually land.

 

:deal this. i didnt see smith really land anything of note. or more acurately i dont remember him landing anything reaslly, that was one of the main things which impressed me with degales performance

I think hes going a bit far, given time De Gale will be special but it would be too soon to take on any of the elite. Still its nice to hear someone from America speaking highly about a British prospect.

 

I don't think he was scared of Froch. It was just his gameplan to run and frustrate Froch.

 

degale has no punch to speak of how is he going to earn the respect of some1 like a andrade who'll march foward and eat his shots, hes talented but his lack of power will be exposed

 

There is a fair point in that but at the same time there seems to be an assumption you can't beat a guy without 'earning his respect'. Andrade walks through punches whether you punch reasonably or not, see the Kessler fight. He got mullered but he never stopped coming did he? You can still beat him up by hitting and not getting hit (as much).

 

Andrade is one of those rare characters where even if you earn his respect, he'll keep coming and go out on his shield rather than just hang back and take a loss. I don't even think punch power factors into his thinking. He needs to get hit to even warm into his usual style. He's still slow and poor on his feet, its perfectly possible to be absolutely featherfisted and beat him IMO if you box his head off and maintain a tight defence.

Now if you're talking about a truely great pressure fighter, then it does become a lot more difficult without power because they're good enough to put gloves on you and when they do they're landing with a lot more impact more often than not.
