See how he punches through his opponent? Alexis was a devastating puncher, and it took a spirited and maybe illegal Aaron Pryor to withstand the power...

 

Arguello visably seemed to lose a step at 135. Still a great fighter, no doubt, but his weaknesses became more apparent at that weight. By the time he was at 140, he was already post-prime. Those are the only reasons I favor Manny at those weights, or at least think it's basically 50/50 at 135. Arguello at the top of his game at 126 and 130 should be able to take out the not quite fully honed but still very capable Pacquiao of those same divisions. I do think Pac would almost always be leading before the stoppage in any case, which would always be late in the match if it's going to happen at all.

Very competitive fights all the way through 126-140.

I wouldn't be so quick to write off Alexis at 140lbs. He actually performed exceptionally well in his first two fights as a Junior Welterweight, and it took one of the divisions fiercest competitiors to come in-between him and a 4th divisional title. He'd had something similar to what Pac did to Hatton in my opinion.

And you don't think Arguello is going to punch back? You don't see him landing vicious, sickening, snappy shots on Manny Pacquiao as he bolts forward and throws his patented flurries? Alexis is in for a tough night, make no mistake about it, but Arguello had excellent timing and would almost certainly catch Manny Pacquiao. The Filipino will start to slow down the more this happens, he ain't going to want to keep feeling Arguello's full blooded shots.

Marquez enjoyed a lot of success against Manny, and although Alexis didn't quite put the numbers together he did, he did throw in combination very well, and exhibited flawless technique in the process. Straight shots hurt Manny.

Erik Morales has a similar type style to Arguello, but I'll state it as simply as I can.......Morales was a poor man's version of Arguello.
Anything Morales could do, Arguello could do better, plus Arguello's conditioning was vastly and I mean vastly better than Morales'.

.....and the variety in punches is there for Arguello as well. He could hurt you or knock you out with either hand.

Arguello beats Pacquiao by KO, and even if it went to a decision, Arguello would be winning the rounds as well to earn him a UD, that is in a perfect scenario where the judging was honest.
